Like it or not, our society is very interested in what the Hollywood elite are doing. As much as I want to say that I don’t care, usually I do. Paparazzi are making a fortune getting that shot that everyone wants to see. Many of us complain that Paparazzi are putting Hollywood stars and the like in danger but we also read, buy and subscribe to the services that inform us about Hollywood.
TMZ.com somehow gets the shot, the video and the scoop that no other agency can. I remember going to TMZ for the first time and getting totally sucked in by the clips and pictures. Not only does TMZ get unheard of traffic to their site, Harvey Levin, managing editor, appears on legitimate news shows. I first saw him on On The Record With Greta Van Susteren. Harvey Levin is charming, a bit cute and very informative, so many buy every word he is saying. The amazing fact about TMZ is that they are the hands down, number one source for the Hollywood scoop.
Many may try and beat them to a story or picture, but rarely does anyone succeed. TMZ has to be good when they have gotten the Britney Spears pictures that no one thought anyone could get. How? That is the one unknown. We know why TMZ does it. Cold hard cash. We know the market TMZ has, a huge part of the human race. But, how do they get the single hottest picture or video the most often?
I have considered that maybe TMZ pays top dollar to other agencies for the best videos and pictures. That or viewers call the toll free number on their website and give TMZ the heads up. Their viewer ship is huge simply because they get what everyone wants. There is no reason to go anywhere else for Hollywood Gossip. On any given day, when I listen to cable new sources, I hear the anchors stating Hollywood gossip “according to TMZ”.
The reason that TMZ will have real staying power is because they are the best at what they do, they are available 24 hours a day via the Internet, they are promoted by major networks by using them for information, they are not politically correct and they have a television show to further promote their company. The TMZ television show is produced impeccably. The writers are very talented and come up with very funny ways to tell you one tiny piece of Hollywood gossip. They do “bits” on celebrities and I find myself laughing out loud at their antics.
