The Top Seven Internet Comedy Websites

Whether you’ve got a desk job that’s boring you to death or simply some time to kill at school, there’s nothing like a good Internet comedy site to keep you entertained for a few hours. After all, computers are great for pretending like you’re working; simply bang on the keyboard every once in a while and look frustrated. Of course, I’ve mastered this art, and through months of not working I’ve managed to find the cream of the crop. Here are the top seven funniest sites on the Internet, with a list of what they offer.

1. Collegehumor.com
This pioneer of frat and stoner humor posts a new article daily along with videos, pictures, and audio files sent in by users. If you appreciate pop culture jokes as much as you like fart jokes, this might be your site, especially if you’re a college student; their recently updated layout allows students to search content by their college, rate and comment on submissions, and more.

2. Fark.com
This Internet phenomenon links to real news stories with funny headlines, which are all user submitted. By reading the FArQ, you can catch up with all the Fark cliches and running gags and kill a few hours reading weird news expertly delivered. As fun as the actual headlines are the forums, which contain some hilarious discussions and flame wars (heated arguments between two opposing sides). Fark.com is responsible for the rise of many Internet trends such as the O RLY owl, and $5 a month will net you a subscription to TotalFark.com, where you can see all headlines as they’re being submitted and participate in exclusive TotalFark discussions.

3. PBFcomics.com
The best comic strip to see the light of day since Gary Larson reigned supreme in the early nineties, The Perry Bible Fellowship is a hilarious and occasionally superbly drawn comic that is both high brow and low brow simultaneously. Subjects range from vampire frogs to cruel humanitarian aid workers, and every week a new comic is posted. Can contain harsh language; usually about a PG-13 rating. On the website, you can buy prints of your favorite comics and read every comic created thus far.

4. Break.com
This is one of the Internet Meccas for funny video, and posts several great videos daily ranging from the hilarious to the obscene. They’re careful to let you know when videos aren’t safe for work, though to be fair, watching any sort of video at work usually isn’t the brightest idea. Break is very good at finding the best of the best, but doesn’t do much more than video and a few pictures.

5. The Onion
One of the funniest faux-newspapers in existence (if not the funniest) is The Onion, the weekly publication that produces classically snide headlines, such as “New, Delicious Species Discovered,” and “Hero Firefighter Loses Lifelong Battle With Fire.” The writing is subtle and brilliant, simultaneously mocking current events and modern journalism with a healthy does of shock humor. For the strong-hearted, check out their coverage of disasters such as September 11th and Hurricane Katrina. During these events, the articles echoed America’s pain and frustration while bringing a smile to anyone who read them.

6. Filecabi.net
Somehow, this site seems to get the most shocking and funniest videos on the net before the other video sites, and keeps them organized in a simple, easy to view format. It’s definitely not a website that is safe for work or school, though; NC-17 ads plague both sides of the screen, though none of them quite get pornographic.

7. Ebaum’s World
Some people absolutely adore this site, which puts up new jokes and videos weekly. Others claim it plagiarizes content. Regardless, it remains a highly popular and addictive website, even to the point where the owners of the site received their own television show (which unfortunately never saw the light of day).
