The Top 10 Hunting Dog Breeds

Your best friend can be more than that to you if you are a hunter. Here are the best hunting dog breeds today. Do you spot your best friend in the list of breeds?

First up is the Coonhound. Long bred for their ability to track and hunt; the Coonhound is the top in this list of the best hunting dog breeds. They are good around people, and fierce radar guns for hunting.

Next up on the list is the Irish Setter. They track down an animal while hunting and stand and stare at it. You can’t go wrong with the Irish Setter for a hunting dog breed. They are great with children and great for hunting as well.

Third on the list is the English Springer Spaniel. They are a great dog breed for hunting because they chase the prey and get the prey out of it’s hiding place. They are relentless at this job; and can be counted on for the most difficult job while hunting.

Forth on the list is the Basset Hound. Their nose is the best at chasing prey with scent. They have a vitality of strength that allows them the energy to get the job done right. Good with family, this breed of dog is a great choice as well.

Next on this list is the Beagle. Now little dogs are easier to care for as they live longer and need less worry over their hearts while hunting. Think of the Beagle as your little trooper while hunting.

Sixth on the list for best of the breeds in hunting is the Golden Retriever. This breed is amazing at hunting and is fiercely loyal with it’s owners. They are perfect for hunting birds as they are gentle and not as fierce as other breeds.

Seventh on my list is the other retriever, the Labrador Retriever. They are very similar to the Golden Retriever except they are more energetic. This breed will keep up with even the most aggressive hunting trip.

Eighth on the list is the Boykin Spaniel. These dogs are very similar to retrievers in personality and abilities. Their strength is their relentless ability to chase and get the prey.

Next up is the Brittany. This breed of dog is very active, intelligent and cooperative. They like to take orders and seem to get satisfaction from doing so. I think of this breed as the Army dog. While not known for that in the Army; I think this breed would do well in that position.

Last on my list of the top ten hunting breeds is the German Shorthair Pointer. This was my choice in dog for it is intelligent, active, loyal, great with family and the perfect hunter. This breed is intense, while showing accuracy that will astound you in the chase.

So, if you are looking to get a good hunting dog; these choices for the top ten hunting dog Breeds should get you where you need to be. Consider the choices and get the breed that suits you best. Your best friend can be a great hunting dog as well.
