The Mentalist Characters

The Mentalist is a unique show. The main character is an ex-conman, who uses his abilities to solve major crimes. Patrick Jane is The Mentalist. He is a consultant to the California Bureau of Investigation. Jane aggravates the cops with his antics, but always proves successful. Jane wants to avenge the loss of his wife and daughter. This clever CBS series started in September of 2008. The Mentalist has many loyal fans, who never miss an episode. Here is the main cast, and some of their previous works.

Simon Baker plays Patrick Jane on The Mentalist. Baker was born on July 30, 1969. He is from Australia, and splits time between Australia and the United States. Baker has been on television since the 80’s in Australia. Here, Baker started showing up on the screen in the late 90’s. Baker played minor roles in movies, and soon landed on The Guardian. He was the leading actor in that series from 2001 through 2004. The Guardian led to Baker being cast in many films. He played in the 2004 flick, Book of Love, 2005 Land of the Dead, and 2006, Something New, and The Devil Wears Praeda. In 2009 Simon Baker was nominated for an Emmy for The Mentalist.

Robin Tunney portrays Theresa Lisbon on The Mentalist. She plays a cop of the C.B.I., who listens to Jane. Backing Patrick Jane, and his odd tactics, usually spells trouble for Theresa. Robin Tunney was born on June 19, 1972. She has been on various series during her career. She has been in Law and Order, The Twilight Zone, and even the pilot of House. Tunney got noticed for her portrayal of a witch in the 1996 movie, The Craft. Robin has gotten good reviews with her role on The Mentalist.

Tim Kang plays Kimball Cho on The Mentalist. Cho is a C.B.I. member who assists Jane, even though he is the exact opposite of Jane. In real life, Tim Kang was born on March 16, 1973. Kang has been on episodes of Law and Order, The Sopranos, Monk, and most notably Third Watch. In 2008 Kang was in the action film, Rambo. Kang has fit in well with The Mentalist. Tim Kang will soon be in demand on the screen.

Owain Yeoman is Wayne Rigsby on The Mentalist. Wayne heads the group investigating Arson. Yeoman was born on July 2, 1978. He is a Welshman. Yeoman has had limited roles. His biggest part was probably on the HBO series, Generation Kill. Yeoman was on the pilot episode of The Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, but didn’t get the part in the series. The Mentalist is a defining moment in the 32 year olds career. The Mentalist could help Yeoman open some doors in the industry.

Amanda Righetti plays Grace Van Pelt on The Mentalist. Grace is romantically involved with Rigsby on the series. Righetti is 27 years old. She was born on April 4, 1983. She started out in the industry doing commercials. She would produce, and sometimes star in them. She eventually wound up on the Fox series, The OC. Amanda played a major part in Friday the Thirteenth, in 2008. Righetti is just starting her career. She has a bright future in the business. The Mentalist will highlight Righetti’s future resumes.

The Mentalist will be a hit for some time on CBS. Simon Baker makes the whole show work. The Mentalist also has the best bad guy on television, with Red John. He is the serial killer who killed Jane’s family. As long as Red John is on the loose, people will tune in, waiting for the episode when Red John finally bites it. Maybe when Red John gets killed, The Mentalist will make a smiley face with Red John’s blood. It would be a fitting end.
