The Farmer’s Market in Provo, Utah

My family and I have enjoyed going to the Farmer’s Market in Provo for a couple of years now. It is fun to see all the different handmade crafts and food, and finding fresh vegetables, herbs, fresh made cookies and bread as well as small restaurants selling small samples of the food they offer in their restaurant weekly at an affordable price.

I walked around the Farmer’s Market every Saturday wondering how to be part of it until last summer. I called Downtown Provo and found out that being able to have a space in the Farmer’s Market was very easy. I decided to make earrings and on my first day I sold $70 worth of earrings.

The fun thing about having a stand in the Farmers Market is that you can sell anything you want. It cost $15 a day from eight in the morning to two in the afternoon. You have to go at eight, fill out a form and pay the fee. They give you your space to set up your table and tent and you can start selling. The only tip I would give you is to make sure you get right tables and the necessary items to properly display the things you have for sale since there is a lot of competition between stands.

The options on what to sell are limitless, last years there were people selling earrings, bracelets, bread, smoothies, tacos, shirts, plants, cookies, honey, pillow cases, aprons, fresh fruit, vegetables, and more. So if you are crafty and know how to sew, make jewelry or killer cookies, the Farmer’s Market in Provo is a great way to make a little extra income during summer.

I will even say it is a great option for those moms that want to make an income while staying at home. Just make the crafts during the week and then take a day off from your mommy duties and come and sell your stuff in the Farmer’s Market.

There are a few rules to follow if you are selling food. There is a permit that cost $25 the first ween and then $10 the weeks after and you can get it through Downtown Provo. The price may seem too much but I asked a couple of ladies that were selling tacos last year and they told me they make a lot more making that price worth it.

If you live in Provo take advantage of the Farmer’s Market either to sell your crafts or to buy them at a really good price. There are a lot of choices and variety of styles, usually things from South America, Mexico and of course the US.
