The Best New Jersey Shore Towns

The best New Jersey shore towns are those that welcome their guests, have lots of entertainment, good restaurants and great beaches. They are family friendly but will keep your teens happy and laughing throughout your vacation. They are wonderful places to allow romance to bloom as you walk along the boardwalks watching the hot sun descend below the ocean waves. Here are some of the finest towns to visit at the New Jersey shore.

If I had to pick the quintessential shore town, it would be Point Pleasant, New Jersey. Point Pleasant has everything one would expect from a shore town. A boardwalk that is impeccably well groomed, a little aquarium, motels, hotels and some really great restaurants. Jenkinson’s Boardwalk is the highlight of the Point Pleasant experience. There are lots of rides for tots and larger kids, tons of games, lots of food and even a decent sized aquarium. The aquarium boasts some seals and lots of opportunities to get up close and personal with loads of fish, reptiles and amphibians.

Another great shore town is Lavallette, New Jersey. This is a town that has been relatively untouched since the seventies. The Crab’s Claw still sits on Grand Central Avenue has had the best food in town for more than twenty ‘”five years. The beaches are graced with a boardwalk adjacent to the newly restored dunes. There are lots of rental homes, bungalows and maybe a few condominiums. Lavalette sits only 15 minutes from Seaside Heights, where the fun of the boardwalk and rides can be enjoyed when needed. The best aspect of this town is the family centered approach to vacationing. Everyone is friendly, everyone loves the beach and there’s always room for one more!

The best revival of all shore towns has to be Long Branch, New Jersey. After a fire in June of 1987, the pier has been totally revitalized with more plans to develop it further. There are now luxury condominiums, hotels and restaurants throughout the new pier. Ocean Place is a world class luxury hotel and spa that offers its guests the best of the New Jersey shore and some very exclusive beach front. There are outstanding beaches with amenities to help their guests stay beyond check-out with showers and places to refresh.

Finally, I’ve saved the best for last. Avalon, New Jersey is one of the very best shore towns and has recently been voted as having some of the best beaches in the United States. The beaches are pristine with lots of natural dunes and manicured coastline. Avalon is conveniently located fifteen minutes from Wildwood, where there is a huge boardwalk with three piers of rides. It is also twenty minutes from Cape May. Cape May is a quaint town full of haunted mansions, old time shoppes and loads of beautiful bed and breakfasts. The Cape May Zoo is actually a very short distance from Avalon with lions, bears, an African section and many species of monkeys. Atlantic City is less than thirty minutes from Avalon and there is always room for a night of gambling and world class restaurants.
