The Best Movies Starring WWE Wrestlers

Best Movies, children's movies, Commando, Roddy Piper, Street Fight

Wrestlers from World Wrestling Entertainment usually have their best results when actually in a wrestling ring, but when they venture off to other projects, it is usually hit or miss. Many wrestlers opt to make movies, and here is a look at some of the best movies starring pro wrestlers.

The Marine: John Cena is no Jason Bourne, but when he took off his wrestler shoes for a pair of action shoes, there were pretty good results. The Marine does not try to take itself too seriously and is a fun action packed movie that sends Cena off looking for his kidnapped girlfriend. There are plenty of explosions, laughs, and a lot of good fight scenes for Cena fans to enjoy.

The Condemned: Out of the three WWE Films that were released, the Condemned features one of the best superstars from the WWE and an excellent plot. Ten people that are death row are sent to an island for a reality show where they all must kill each other until one remains standing and broken free from his or her sentence. You know that Stone Cold Steve Austin is obviously going to survive but it is still very enjoyable watching the different unique deaths that go on throughout the film. Like the Marine there are plenty of laughs too, and the premise is great.

Suburban Commando: At the height of his popularity Hulk Hogan was featured in a lot of children’s movies like Mr. Nanny. One of the best was Suburban Commando though, and also featured a role with the Undertaker in the movie. The movie is corny fun with horrible special effects that follows Hogan as an alien who has crash landed on planet Earth. Kids will love it and adults will find a lot of humor in it too, especially Hulk Hogan fans.

No Holds Barred: Another Hulk Hogan movie, which was actually written by Hogan and Vince McMahon is based around the world of wrestling itself. This movie is actually cheesier than Suburban Commando, but features the character and enemy of Zeus, who actually became a WWE wrestler. They battle in an octagon ring unlike the WWE’s four sided ring and this movie should get released on DVD.

They Live: Rowdy Roddy Piper was one of the main headliners in the WWE even though he never won the world title, but he made his presence felt and many classic moments in the horror film They Live. Aliens have invaded planet earth, but they are in the form of humans and only Piper can see them by wearing his special sunglasses. He has a memorable street fight and classic lines like “I came here to chew bubblegum and kick ass….and I’m all out of bubblegum.”
