The Best Jobs for People with ADHD

ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) is a problem that affects the attention span of the person who has it. It also denotes that the person is hyperactive. That means you have a person on your hands that can’t hold his/her attention for more than 10 minutes at a time while he/she bounces off the walls. This may seem like a disadvantage, but it can work to the employers advantage to have an ADHD person working for them. You have to put them in the right position and you will see more work get done than you ever have before.

Here are some of the best jobs for people with ADHD:

Mechanic

ADHD people need jobs that don’t require them to do the same thing all day long. A mechanic constantly does different things. It is also a hands-on, physical job. That is perfect for the ADHD person who can’t sit still. If you are an ADHD person and you are looking for something that is challenging, different every day and keeps you moving, an auto mechanic is the best job for you.

Runner

A runner is someone who goes from department to department and place to place to run errands. This may not sound like a very exciting job, but it is the perfect job for people with ADHD. That is because they never have to sit still to do it. They get to see different scenery during the day and they won’t get bored nearly as fast as if they were sitting at a desk trying to crunch numbers all day.

Delivery Driver

A delivery driver is busy all day and doesn’t have time to stop and think about being bored. It is different everyday and they will get things done more quickly. If you want someone that will work hard to get everything done on time, hire people with ADHD. ADHD people are hyper therefore move much faster than the average person and they pride themselves on getting things right the first time.

Construction

People who have ADHD will fair well in the construction business. This is another business that keeps you busy and working hard. The idea is to keep them from getting bored. That means constant change in what they are doing and there couldn’t be anything that does that more than a construction job. If you want one of the best people working in your construction company, hire someone with ADHD.

Although some of these jobs do require a bit of attention, they are still ever changing. That is what makes them so perfect for ADHD people. They definitely won’t get bored and they will keep moving which is necessary when you are ADHD. It only makes sense to put a hammer or wrench in their hands or hand them a package to take to someone. Don’t give them time to think too hard. Keep them moving and they will be one of the best assets your company has ever had.
