The NBC hit TV show Medium revolves around Allison Dubois, a wife and mother of three, who uses her psychic abilities to help solve crimes. Here is a look at the actors who portray the Dubois family on Medium:

Patricia Arquette as Allison Dubois / Mother & Wife

Patricia Arquette plays the lead on Medium as Allison Dubois. Her character on Medium is inspired by the actual same-named psychic Allison Dubois.

Upon first meeting Allison Dubois before filming Medium, Patricia says Allison told her she would win an award in the future. In 2005, Patricia Arquette won her most acclaimed acting award to date, an Emmy for her role on Medium. She has since continued to receive critical praise, and grabbed Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild nominations in 2006 and 2007 for her role on Medium.

While many may now know the name Patricia Arquette because of her role on Medium, her name has been around Hollywood for the past 20 years. She landed her first major film in 1987 after being cast as Kristen Parker in The Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors. After appearing in several television movies and guest spots, Patricia received her first critically acclaimed role as an abused, deaf girl in the 1991 television movie of the week Wildflowers. In 1993, she gained many fans after appearing in the film True Romance opposite Christian Slater. Since 1993, Patricia Arquette has steadily been working in Hollywood appearing in such other films as Holy Matrimony, Beyond Ragoon, Flirting with Disaster, Infinity, Nightwatch, Lost Highway, The Hi-Lo Country, Goodbye Lover, Bringing Out the Dead, Stigmata, Little Nicky, and Human Nature.

Outside of her acting, some might be familiar with Patricia Arquette’s name due to her family relations. Patricia Arquette was born in Chicago 1968 to Lewis and Mardi Arquette. Lewis Arquette appeared in numerous television episodes such as The Waltons and movies such as Best in Show. Lewis’ father (Patricia’s grandfather) Cliff Arquette, also known as Charley Weaver, was also a TV personality during the 50’s, 60’s and early 70’s. Younger Arquette fans are probably more familiar with her siblings Rosanna (Desperately Seeking Susan, Pulp Fiction, What About Brian) and David Arquette (Scream, Ready to Rumble, In Case of Emergency); as well as her sister-in-law Courtney Cox (Scream, Friends, Dirt), her ex-husband Nicolas Cage (Raising Arizona, Leaving Las Vegas, National Treasure), and her current husband Thomas Jane (61*, The Punisher).

Patricia currently lives in Los Angeles with her husband and two children, Harlow and Enzo.

Jake Weber as Joe Dubois / Father & Husband

Jake Weber plays Allison Dubois’ husband Joe Dubois. He is an English-born actor and Juilliard graduate who began his film career in the 1989 film Born on the Fourth of July cast as “Donna’s Boyfriend”. Prior to being cast on Medium, he acted in various supporting roles; most notably as Dr. Matt Cower on the mid-90’s TV show American Gothic. A few might also remember him from his supporting roles in the films Meet Joe Black, Pushing Tin, and Dawn of the Dead.

Twins, Madison and Miranda Carabello, play the youngest child of the Dubois family on Medium.

Maria Lark as Bridgette Dubois / Middle Daughter

Maria Lark plays the middle child Bridgette Dubois on Medium. Born in 1997, she was soon transplanted to New York after being adopted from Russia. Lark landed her role on Medium after her mother was encouraged to take her to some commercial auditions as a way to pay for Lark’s private schooling.

In interviews, Patricia Arquette who plays Lark’s mom on Medium, often amusingly refers to Maria Lark as behaving like an “old woman”. Outside of acting, she has similar interests as most kids: movies, TV, dogs, Harry Potter, and just hanging out. Maria currently lives in Los Angeles with her mother and hopes to have a relatively normal childhood.

Sofia Vassilieva as Ariel Dubois / Oldest Daughter

Sofia Vassilieva plays the oldest child on Medium. Prior to Medium, Sofia’s first role was as a guest on the TV show The Agency in 2001. The rest of her filmography includes roles in The Brady Bunch in the White House (TV), Inhabited, Day Zero, and a starring role in two Eloise movies, Eloise at the Plaze (TV) and Eloise at Christmastime (TV). She received a Young Artist nomination for her work in Eloise at Christmas in 2003. In 2005, Sofia Vassilieva went on to win a Young Artist award in 2006 for her supporting role in Medium.

Sofia was born in Minnesota 1992, but interestingly enough, like her co-star Maria Lark, she has similar ties to Russia. Sofia’s parents, Larissa and Vladimir, are immigrants of Russia. Her family currently live in Los Angeles.
