Sweet Fried Bread – a Recipe

Ricotta Cheese

This is my go to dessert for a special occasion like anniversary or a birthday celebration. It is elaborate and simple at the same time. I can bet when you serve this to someone, they will be so pleased that they will ask you the recipe. This recipe will make 24 pieces.

Ingredients:

1.6 slices of white bread
2.11/2 cups of Sugar
3.1 cup of water
4.Ricotta Cheese-1lb
5.4 tbs powdered sugar
6.1/3 cup of sliced almonds
7.Oil for frying.

Method:

1.Cut the sides of the bread and keep it away. Next, cut the bread into 4 quarters.

2.Make the sugar syrup. Put the sugar and water in a pan and switch on your stove to medium flame . Once all the sugar has dissolved and the syrup begins to boil, switch off the flame. Sugar syrup is ready.

3.Take a pan covering with about 11/2 inchof oil and heat . Keep the flame on medium. In the hot oil fry the bread pieces (few at a time). Fry the bread pieces till its light brown on both sides. You would need to turn over one time in between to fry the other side. Once done, take out the fried bread pieces and put it on a paper towel to drain the excess oil.

4. Next, dip the bread pieces completely in the warm sugar syrup and instantly take them out and put each piece separately on another plate.(Note: If you dip the bread pieces longer in the warm syrup, the bread pieces will get soggy and lose the crunch).Allow them to come to room temperature.

5. Next, we make a topping for the fried bread pieces that were dipped in the sugar syrup. For the topping, take a mixing bowl and add ricotta cheese and powdered sugar and mix.

6.Put about 1tbs of the topping on each of the bread pieces.Spread the topping so that the top portion of the bread is completely covered.

7.Garnish each of the bread pieces with sliced almonds.

8.The dish is ready to enjoy. For best results, just put it in the refrigerator for 30 minutes before serving.

Tip:

If you want to make this dish ahead of time, you can make the sugar syrup, and fry the bread pieces in advance. Before serving,just warm up the sugar syrup, make the topping and assemple the dish together. An exotic and yummy sweet dish will be ready in a jiffy. Enjoy!
