Potter Park “Zoocambi 2008”, Lansing, Michigan, When Potter Park introduced its summer camp program for 2008 it offered a new perspective. This years program is aimed at responding to the interaction the zoo has had with parents, camp teachers and kids to construct a program that will best serve the needs, interests and abilities of all participants.

“Zoocambi 2008” will operate in two sessions with a program in the morning and another in the afternoon. Snacks will be provided at both sessions. But for those children who are interested, there is also a full day program plan available in which kids come for the morning session, bring a lunch or money to purchase a lunch and stay through until the beginning of the afternoon session. Seven new learning programs have been added and older sessions have been reviewed to give kids the best and most interesting view of the zoo that is possible. For younger children their are sessions that allow them to investigate the habitat, eating habits, and sense perceptions of animals.

Older kids will check out the wildlife according to continents and habitats using the zoo as their school book. They will get to investigate a variety of environmental settings and learn about the threats to animal survival. The oldest group of kids, those from Grade 5-7 will find sessions that allow them to visit the underwater zoo exhibits and learn what that habitat has to offer. They will also get a chance to learn what it is like to work at the zoo as a “zoo keeper for a day”. For every kids from Grade 1-7 there are fun things to see and do at Potter Park Zoocambi 2008.
