Songs for Mother’s Day, Birthdays or Just Because

This is a list of “mom” songs – tunes that show gratitude and appreciation for moms. They’re perfect for Mother’s Day, birthdays, or just to thank her for being your mother. Make a mix CD, put the lyrics in a card, or just send her a link so that she can listen to the songs.

Rock/Pop

Thank You Mom” by Good Charlotte – A rock song that says “I’ll always love you, Mom.

You’re the Inspiration” by Chicago – This classic rock song is self-explanatory.

“A Song 4 Mama” by Boyz II Men – A little dated, but this R&B; song is sweet nevertheless.

“Wind Beneath My Wings” – There are several versions of this song, but Bette Midler’s classic and Gary Morris’s country version are the best.

In My Life” by the Beatles – This song says that out of all relationships, the one with Mother is Number One.

“Nothing Compares 2 U” by Sinead O’Connor – I know, a lot of people joke about her, but this song is really good!

“Because You Loved Me” by Celine Dion – Tells Mom the power of her love.

“You Raise Me Up” by Josh Groban – Again, the power of a mother’s love.

Country

“Fore She Was Mama” by Clay Walker – This song is really cute. It talks about the life of the woman she was pre-children. It’s a good “mom” song because the fact that Mom is actually a person is often overlooked.

“Somebody’s Hero” by Jamie O’Neal – Perfect for the stay-at-home mother.

In This Life” by Collin Raye – Says that one of the most important things in life is being loved by a mother.

Thanks Again” by Ricky Skaggs – Actually written for Mom and Dad, this song says that gifts given on Mother’s Day and Father’s Day don’t begin to express gratitude for all the times they were there.

“Through the Years” by Kenny Rogers – This song talks about the consistency of a mother’s unconditional love.

“What a Difference You’ve Made in My Life” by Ronnie Milsap – Pretty self-explanatory.

A Friend to Me” by Garth Brooks – Through all the years and disagreements, Mom has always been there, and this song expresses that.

Thicker than Blood” by Garth Brooks – A good song for those with step-parents.

“Jesus and Mama” by Confederate Railroad – Talks about a mother’s ability to forgive and love unconditionally.

“I.O.U.” by Jimmy Dean – This classic is not so much a song (the lyrics are spoken) but it lists all the gifts a mother gives her children, and gratitude for those gifts.

Momisms” by Anita Renfroe – This song isn’t country or pop, but it’s hilarious! Renfroe sings about all the things mothers tell their children to the tune of the William Tell Overture. Sure to put a smile on your mom’s face!
