Small Garden Sheds: a Consumer’s Guide

The gardening season is upon us and the need for storage space becomes imminent. I am always in need of more storage space for my gardening supplies and will review a few different types of storage sheds available. When shopping, you will need to consider the area available for the garden shed. Will this be a permanent garden shed or just a temporary fix? What are your needs for the shed? Next comes the task of searching locally and online. Here are some suggestions:

1. Modular Storage Sheds

These sheds can be a permanent fixture or they can be for temporary use. This is good for those who are renting because it comes apart easily for moving purposes.

These sheds are available in two different widths (6′ and 8′) and are also available in two different lengths (8′ and 12′). All sheds measure 6′ 6″ tall and some assembly is required. Pricing starts at $279.00.

This shed’s frame and connectors are constructed of 100% commercial grade galvanized steel. The cover is made from triple layer, waterproof polyethylene material.

2. Garden Sheds with Siding & Side Door

This shed is meant to fit against your house, fence, or another shed. The shed has plenty of room on the inside but takes up very little room in your yard.

There are two different sizes available. You can purchase it in (4’x7′) or a (4’x10′) size. The shed is made of standard electro-galvanized steel finish. The door can be placed on either side depending upon the area it goes into.

This shed can be purchased for $486.36.

3. Gardner’s Delight – Potting Shed

This shed is the most expensive of all the sheds I mentioned but is so beautiful, as well as practical. The shed is made out of 100% Western Red Cedar. It features two push out windows and a sliding door. It has a 3 ft. wide porch and comes with a window planter box. All assembly hardware is included.

The shed is available in a (6’x9′) or a (6’x12′) size. The pricing starts at $2,149.00 and the shipping is calculated by region. There are three different regions to choose from and shipping starts at $75.00.

There are so many choices on the market today and I have only scraped the surface with my fingernail. Shopping around locally can also be a benefit because the item is right there in front of you. The materials and construction of the shed can be seen immediately. Proper planning and careful shopping can yield a fruitful harvest for years to come.
