Summer is almost here and that means no school, hot weather, and pool parties. Summer pool parties are always a lot of fun, but any time there is a large body of water involved, there is a potential for danger. In order to keep your pool parties fun, you have to make sure that everyone is safe and will remain safe throughout the duration of the party. Here are some safety tips for pool parties:

Before your guests arrive, you should check the pool area and make sure that there is nothing that your guests could potentially trip over or cut themselves on. If you have any fragile decorations, you might want to put them away just during the party, especially if there are going to be children there.

Accidents happen and you can’t do anything to change that once they’ve happened, but you can be ready. A first aid kid is very important to have around, so make sure you know where you can find it if you need it. Also make sure you keep some sunscreen available for guests who did not apply it before they came, or forgot to bring their own.

Running around without shoes on can be dangerous. Your guests could step on something sharp or get stung by bees, wasps, or ants, along with many other things. Simply ask your guests to wear or bring flip flops to wear when they get out of the pool. You may have to try a little harder if your guests are children, but make sure you don’t let them get away with not wearing shoes.

With guests chatting, the usual outside noise, and the music that is almost always included in a pool party, it can get pretty noisy. If someone needs assistance in the pool and you can’t hear them, that could have some very bad results. Also, if an emergency call needs to be made and guests can barely hear anything, the person on the other end of the phone line won’t be able to hear anything either. Try to keep the music at a volume where it can still be heard, but others can speak at a normal voice.

Not everyone can swim, but that shouldn’t prevent them from having a great time at a pool party. If one of your guests can’t swim, make sure that there are flotation devices available so they can enjoy the pool.
