Review of SalesGenie.Com

Salesgenie.com is a marketing website that provides prospects to salesmen who make calls or visits to prospective clients. I count myself among those salesmen, so I decided to give it a shot–here’s my review of SalesGenie.com’s website and service.

100 Free Leads

SalesGenie provides 100 free sales leads, so I figure that this would be a good place to start for my review. Of the 100 leads, I had a successful call-to-sale rate, although it’s a pretty small sample size and my awesome, awesome, indestructible sales technique might have had something to do with it.

The reliability of the leads seemed pretty solid, as nearly all of the leads I’d contacted were properly listed in SalesGenie’s database. One was a wrong number. That’s a much better rate than I’d expected. You choose leads based on the industry you’re looking to target, and you can pick a certain location or company size, which was extremely useful. Once a company is selected, a report comes up with a credit rating (not always completely accurate, but very nice), a picture of the company’s location, and all the contact information you’ll need, including job titles. I thought that it was exceptionally well organized and well put together, and although I had some trouble at first figuring out how to move contacts around, save notes, etc., once I got the hang of things everything seemed to be in its right place on SalesGenie.

Speed

I had an issue with the overall speed of SalesGenie’s website, although it’s possible that I caught them on a bad day, or a day where connection rates were high. It seemed difficult to navigate around the website, get to new leads quickly, or modify a contact, all because of a slow connection on SalesGenie’s side–my T1 line was almost certainly not the issue. I tried SalesGenie again the next day, and it had sped up considerably. I have no way of reliably saying how often the slowdown happens, but if I were paying over $200 per month for the service, it would aggravate me very quickly. It’s a bit of a nit-pick, though, considering that I’d gotten everything that I’d wanted eventually, and even when load times were at their worst, I never had to wait more than 30 seconds or so. I got around the issue by using multiple tabs on my Internet browser, so that I was loading a contact while another contact was already fully loaded on my screen and I was making a sales call to them.

Overall Impression

Don’t let its sometimes goofy television ads fool you; SalesGenie.com is a serious marketing tool, and if you make a lot of sales calls and spend a lot of time looking for new prospects, it might definitely be worth its hefty monthly cost. You can go to salesgenie.com to get 100 free leads, although you should know that they’ve got a fairly high-pressure sales staff–and they should, they’re a marketing company–that will email you quite a bit after the 100 leads are accepted.
