Review of Biosilk Fruit Cocktail Reconstructing Treatment

My cousin was the little gem who purchased me a bottle of Biosilk Fruit Cocktail Reconstructing Treatment. She did this because she knew how much of a diehard fan I am of Biosilk products in general, and I was the one who bought her first bottle of Biosilk oil, which she loved. Returning the favor, this was how I landed a bottle of Biosilk Fruit Cocktail Reconstructing Treatment.

I had never before even seen Biosilk Fruit Cocktail Reconstructing Treatment being sold alongside other Biosilk hair care products in stores, so I had to wonder if this was a treatment that was either really old and no longer found in stores, or if it was so new it did not hit shelves at my local shopping spots yet.

Either way, I was excited to try it considering how badly I had over processed my hair by coloring it too often in too short a time span. The treatment promised to restore moisture and leave the hair soft. I desperately had a need for both!

The Scent:

Biosilk Fruit Cocktail Reconstructing Treatment is the very first product in the Biosilk family that did not at all contain that signature delicious scent nearly every Biosilk product has. This worried me, but of course the product still held my interest.

The scent delivered was definitely a fruity one. The main aroma was a sugary honey dew melon scent, which I personally liked, but seeing that it smelled like fruit and lacked the original Biosilk fragrance flair, I associated this product with a much lower grade perfumed product.

The Results:

Like the lower quality scent, Biosilk Fruit Cocktail Reconstructing Treatment also delivered a lower quality product.

Seeing that this was made by Biosilk I expected nothing but the best results, and unfortunately with this one, that was not at all the case.

The treatment is meant to be paired with Biosilk shampoo, which I did use. You then put the treatment in your hair for 3-4 minutes and rinse.

I did as directed. The first thing I did not like was the difficulty in squeezing the treatment from the bottle. The treatment is very thick in texture, so it does not just free flow from the bottle. You have to really put some muscle power into it in order to get the stuff to even come out.

The next dislike was the way it spread through my hair. It was more like adding a thick cocoa butter paste to my hair than it was any treatment I had ever had. The consistency was like Queen Helene’s hair butters. Thick, a slight greasiness to it, and hard to easily saturate your hair with.

The Overall Results:

Once I rinsed, my hair still felt dirty. It felt weighed down, and unclean as if a residue remained behind. My hair also did not feel quenched, moisturized and silky like other conditioners do when I rinse them out.

I wanted to pair it up with one of my other Biosilk conditioners, but I refused to, as I wanted to see what the results would be when this product was used only as directed.

Well, sadly I wished I had paired it up. I let my hair air dry, and the ends were very dry, drier than what I was used to, and it did nothing for me. In fact my hair texture felt worse after using it.

All in all, this one is probably one of the worst products that I have ever used when it comes to Biosilk. I can only imagine that I cannot find it in local stores because even they know it is not worth the shelf space.
