Review: Bodycology Cherry Blossom Lotion

I recently received a free sample of Bodycology’s hand and body lotion in the cherry blossom scent. It came in a little white foil type of package with pink flowers and mostly black writing. It contained 7.25 mL (almost a quarter of an ounce) and was almost in the shape of a bottle of lotion. I tore off the top of the package, which represented a cap and was very easy to open (and was a very cute package!), and squeezed out a small amount to try.

The package stated that it was a new hydrating formula (isn’t lotion already supposed to hydrate?) and that it was going to “moisturize with a light fragrance.” This Bodycology hand lotion contains aloe vera, shea butter, and vitamins A and E. On the back of the package it described the product as “exotic” and provided the following: “Blushing cherry blossom blooms with fragrance to produce a blissful and radiant scent.”

When I smoothed it onto my hands I noticed it had a nice creamy texture and it was thick but not overly thick. I was expecting a nice cherry aroma, but I personally thought the scent smelled more of a powdery fragrance. I could barely smell any cherry at all. As I rubbed the lotion into my hands I observed that it did cover well and was easy to smooth over my hands with just a small or average amount. It left my hands feeling moisturized but not oily.

The free sample provided enough lotion for me to use at least 6-8 times, which I thought was a fair portion for a free product. It also came with a coupon. This lotion is made in the USA and distributed by Advanced Beauty Systems, Inc., in Dallas, Texas. The finished product is not tested on animals. The product does contain many ingredients and it is mentioned that it may contain several dyes, which I am not too fond of; I prefer all or mostly natural products whenever possible, and NO animal testing whatsoever.

Bodycology produces a number of types of hand soaps, lotions, mists, and other skin care products. They offer a number of scents and also feature gift sets, if desired. The company reveals their motto as “for women to feel a sense of wellbeing and create a sanctuary within the daily beauty routine.”

Overall, I don’t think this product is bad in regards to its moisturizing benefits, but because I wasn’t incredibly fond of the fragrance and several other reasons, I would not personally buy this product. I have other preferred lotions that I will continue to use. The scent is a big reason for me to continue to use certain products such as lotions and shampoos, for example. I don’t dislike the scent, but it’s not one I would choose to use often. If you prefer this scent, I would suggest the product. They do offer many other fragrances, so maybe if I can try out a free sample of some other scents I would change my mind.
