REI Half Dome 2 HC Camping Tent

Once a year my family and I go camping. I went into my basement and looked around at all of our camping gear to get a feel for what we were in the need for. I knew that we needed a tent because last year, our tent was attacked by a bear. That was the scariest thing I think I had ever experienced in my whole entire life. My husband told me that his friend told him about the new REI Half Dome 2 HC Tent that had just come out. It was a bit pricey but it might be worth the buy.

I went on Walmart and found nothing so I went on BizRate and found the REI Half Dome 2 HC Tent for $170. He said that it was pricey but I didn’t think that it was this pricey. I wasn’t sure if I could afford such a high tent with no guarantee of my money back if I wasn’t happy. My husband told me to go ahead and see what happens and so that’s what I did.

When the REI Half Dome 2 HC Tent arrived to my home, I was disappointed in the box it came in. It was small so I was expecting the tent itself to be small. I wasn’t wrong, the REI Half Dome 2 HC Tent was small and not roomy at all. I went and put it up to see what we were working with and I was far from being satisfied with what I was facing.

First of all, the REI Half Dome 2 HC Tent was easy to setup. I am all about easy setup when it comes to anything that I have to put together.It took me about ten minutes to put the whole entire REI Half Dome 2 HC Tent together, which wasn’t bad. It normally takes me an hour or so to put a camping tent together, so ten minutes was a breeze.

In addition to the easy setup, the REI Half Dome 2 HC Tent was comfortable. I loved the padding at the bottom of the REI Half Dome 2 HC Tent, I think it was more of a coated nylon.But either way I was loving it. I wasn’t going to have to depend solely on my sleeping bag for comfort.

The REI Half Dome 2 HC Tent is about 5lbs in weight. I’m not sure how true this is because to me, the REI Half Dome 2 HC Tent was a bit heavy. This is a negative when it comes to carrying it but a wonderful aspect when it comes to having it setup. The heaviness brings stability to the REI Half Dome 2 HC Tent and that is a great characteristic. We’ve had one or two storms during our camping trips and a few of our tents have flown away during them.

Now the REI Half Dome 2 HC Tent wasn’t as roomy as it came off to be. Even though when I took it out the box and it looked big, once inside it’s really small. I think me, my husband and maybe one more person could get into it.So I was disappointed in this area because for a $170, I would have thought at least a few people could share the tent.

The REI Half Dome 2 HC Tent wasn’t all that bad for the price. The only thing I wasn’t liking about the REI Half Dome 2 HC Tent was the room. It didn’t allow too many people to utilize the space. Other than that I thought the REI Half Dome 2 HC Tent was a neat design as well as an all around neat tent.
