Real World 2010 New Orleans

Yes, I have been watching the Real Wold since it aired, way back when, the first cast, I fondly remember you. This popular reality MTV series has been around for twenty-four seasons. Wow. I do have to say that I am not surprised. Creators Mary Ellis Bunim and Jonathan Murray were first in reality tv, I am proud to say. I was there with them. All those years ago. They saw the future of reality tv, they created for us and they are the masters, in my book. I have to give thanks to them here, for all of the many years of viewing pleasure. Don’t ever stop.

The Real World 2010 show was filmed in New Orleans. After hurricane Katrina, what better place? New Orleans is well known for bouncing back and survival. In the worst conditions. I think that fact is one of the many reasons why I loved the Real World 2010 show the best. Survivors. Well, we have a cast full of them. Let me tell you all about it.

The season is over and I am looking forward to seeing the reunion airing next Weds. night on MTV. I know, it is all over. I was misty eyed as the last cast member left the gorgeous New Orleans house. That fact inspired me to write this article. It is from an unbiased viewer’s perspective. Just my own opinions and heartfelt thoughts. Here goes.

The Real World New Orleans cast included Sahar Dika, Ryan Leslie, Preston O’Neil Roberson-Charles, Ashlee Feldman, Eric Patrick, Jemmye Carroll, McKenzie Coburn and Ryan Knight, known on the show fondly as just knight. I got all caught up in their reality tv show lives, as I am sure many others did. This show is watched by over one million viewers. I am not alone. I dig it.

Well, I will go ahead and tell you that Jemmye Carroll was my very favorite cast member. She was extraordinarily real. She came to this house to live with other strangers, she had major issues, one being domestic abuse, among many others. She lived, she laughed, she loved and she found help for her deep issues and I am so very touched by her story and witnessing her many changes. She left the house a beautiful and much more healed person. Bravo. Knight was her confidant, her soul mate and her best friend. They bonded and learned together. It was a long and emotional journey, but let me tell you, they had fun along the way. Yay! You two made me laugh, cry and sympathize. These folks gave me a deeper understanding into personal situations that you just can’t get from anyone. It was real.

Well, Ryan Leslie, he was ultimately voted out of the house, much like Puck, remember him, many years ago. Ryan seemed to fit in great at first, then, well, it all went to hell. Frustration and inability to cope with living with other people, respecting their feelings and getting along seemed to escape Ryan’s grasp. I think, at the end, it was more of a pride thing and disrespect for all that ended his stay. He vocalized his every angry moment, thought and feelings. It became an I don’t care thing and all was gone. Well, I did think that he brought interesting situations to the show and when it became an all out dangerous war, he and Preston had major conflicts, it was time to go. I agree with the choice and I know that it was hard. Abuse can’t be tolerated and all took a final stand.

Sahar was a fun person to observe on this show. She let all of us into her very personal goal of becoming a singer. No, it is not easy, but she kept trying and, let me tell you, that girl can sing. I loved watching her go the distance and make great moves towards her goal. Fantastic job! Her boyfriend issues came out and I do have to say that I agree with your cast mates. You deserve better than that.

Ashlee Feldman was a delight and she has such a spectacular radio voice. I hope she will go far and she kept her head level during all of the crazy times at the Real World New Orleans house. Kudos to her. She was sweet, a friend and supportive. A joy to watch. Preston was fun and he found love while in New Orleans. I hope that works out for him!

McKenzie Coburn is probably one of the most photogenic people I have ever seen. This girl always looked great. She is beautiful, sweet and smart. She had such a fun spirit around her, it was hard not to love her. Eric Patrick had the very same qualities. He always looked great and seemed smart, brave and kind.

This cast did work for Habitat For Humanity and for the mission in New Orleans. They gave their time, their love, their sweat and their tears. No, they may not have always embraced all the chores and tasks asked of them, but in the end, they came through. Brilliantly. Ya’ll made it and I watched every minute. Bravo!

Strong bonds, friendships and love were all present and I hope all of that will always be a part of their lives. So many people watched this show and they are just like me, they went through it with you. What a cast, crew and everybody involved deserves major praise. A job well done. A true Real World experience that was exciting, thrilling, frustrating and tear jerking. That is why we love reality tv. I am looking forward to the next season of Real World. Film on. We will be watching.

Please forgive me for any misspelled names. I did my best. Thanks, all!
