Product Review: Water Jet Power Washer

I am the first to admit that I have been burned on a few of these “as seen on TV items” and that is one of the reasons I hesitated about purchasing the Water Jet Power Washer. The ad campaign was sound. I liked the idea of turning my regular old garden hose into a power washer. But would it really?

The Power Washing Feature of the Water Jet

The Water Jet Power Washer is a long wand that screws into the end of your hose just like any other nozzle. It is very light weight and easy to hold. The shut off lever is positioned in a handy spot and simply turns on and off, or you can adjust the amount of pressure with it.

Sounds okay so far, right? Remember, I have been burnt by some of these TV items, so I still wasn’t ready to pass judgment just because it attached and turned on easily. I had bought the Water Jet because I thought it would be easy for me to do a lot of my outdoor cleaning with it. I especially wanted it to clean my large dogs outside kennel.

Large dogs leave large deposits, if you get my meaning, and it was very tedious trying to keep the kennel nice and clean with a hose that had very little water pressure. I had to ask a friend to power wash that green grime off the sides of my house earlier this year. The power washer was heavy, awkward and noisy! I figured this little Water Jet would be good for me to use. (More of that becoming self sufficient stuff!)

The first thing I tried the Water Jet on was my dog’s kennel. It has a concrete floor in it and I try very hard to keep it as clean as possible. Using the garden hose, even with a spray nozzle, took a long time. Not so with the Water jet! It actually had the power of a small power washer!

It comes with two screw- on tips. The first tip shoots out a tiny single line of water that is very powerful. It is great for zapping bigger chunks of debris and dirt. The other tip is a fan type of spray. It fans out over a larger area to wash away debris and dirt. I was seriously impressed with how well it cleaned the concrete floor in the kennel.

After dragging the hose from the kennel, I glanced over at the side of my small shed. Yep it had that green slimy stuff building up on it again. Well, I was already wet and dirty, might as well see what it does with that, right? It did a great job. As you can see from the photo I even got a little creative.

Other Uses for the Water Jet:

I love multi functional equipment so as I was cleaning the green slime off of my shed, I glanced over at the garden I planned on watering later that evening. Guess what? I found that I could use the fan spray attachment to water my garden. I could stand on one end, hold the Water Jet wand up in the air and the fan spray watered a huge section of the garden! By waving it back and forth, like a gentle rain, I watered the entire garden in no time! So, yes, I had a very multi functional tool and it was working really well.

Price and Other Downsides to the Water Jet:

I purchased my Water Jet Power Washer at our local Alco Store. I tried several other stores that sell the “As seen on TV” products, but they didn’t have the Water Jet. I paid the advertised price of $19.95, but I didn’t have to pay the $7.95 handling charge that the TV or web site charges.

I did notice that the web site offers a bonus of a scrub brush and soap dispenser attachment for free, if you pay an additional $7.95 handling charge for it. That might have been nice to have, but hey, I saved myself $16.00. I have a scrub brush and I have a bottle of dish liquid!

The extra screw on nozzle twists onto a little rubber “nub” on the side of the water Jet wand. I can anticipate the rubber piece wearing or falling off over time. I can also anticipate someone (no names please) being in a hurry when they change the tips and laying one down and forgetting where they put it.

I think the Water Jet Power Washer was well worth the $20.00 bucks it cost me, I just wish they would have had a better way to attach or store the extra tip. I would definitely recommend that readers purchase one and see how many different things they can use it for. The packaging says it is great for cars, rvs and boats too. I haven’t tried it on a car yet, but it will clean a grimy barbeque grill!
