Product Review: Sally Hansen Spray-On Shower-Off Hair Remover

I recently tried a new product for hair removal. This product is called Sally Hansen Spray-On Shower-Off Hair Remover. The idea behind the product is to remove hair quickly without shaving and without as big a mess as hair removal creams. I tested it on my legs. Here are my results.

Application:
To apply this product, you just shake and spray a coat over the entire area of hair to be removed. This was fairly quick and fairly easy – much faster and less messy than applying my regular hair removal cream. However, I did have to place a towel on the floor underneath the spraying area. My next step would be to wait – who likes waiting? Not me. But 3 minutes sounded reasonable, so I proceeded to wait it out.

Setting Time:
This only took a few minutes of waiting time. One the 3 minutes was up, I tested an inconspicuous area. The hair rubbed away effortlessly. So, it was off to the shower to rinse off and see just how magical this product really was. I hoped it didn’t disappoint because I was getting ready for church and did not want hairy legs showing underneath my skirt.

Removal Process:
The product instructed that one was to simply rinse away the product under the shower and the hair would come away with it. If need be, a washcloth could be used to completely rub away any hair. Since my hair is coarse, I opted for the washcloth before even testing whether I needed it or not. However, it wiped away easily, so I ended up ditching the cloth halfway into the rinsing. Now it was time to see my results with the area dry, so I stepped out of the water and dried off.

Results:
As the area became dry, I was actually amazed at the results. There was indeed no hair left on my legs. It worked as it said it would. I was very pleased. I even showed my husband once I was dressed, before we whisked off to church with the kids. Of course, it was really no big deal to him. What does someone else care about how I rid my legs for hair? Probably not much.

Re-Growth Time:
Now, this is where the product left me unsatisfied. The hair grew back twice as fast as with my usual hair removal cream. So, I had to re-do the process much sooner than I would wish for.

Re-Application:
Upon re-application, this product did not perform as well as it did the first time. I tried again on 3 different occasions and could not achieve the same results as I did with initial use.

Overall Satisfaction:
I was satisfied with the first application, so I would recommend to someone to use once if they needed a quick solution. However, that may be all it’s good for. As a long-term product, this one gets an F. But, as a quick one-time fix, it gets an A+.

Will you be the next to try it?
