Product Review of Scott’s Liquid Gold Wood Cleaner

Spring cleaning came early this year, cabin fever caused us to take a good look at the house. We realized there were a few things we could do to spruce the place up while the winter winds were blowing outside. The kitchen was the first place we looked in our quest to brighten up our living space.

Have you ever noticed that after a few years the natural wood cabinets in the kitchen start to look faded. They’ve lost their luster, and when you run your hands over the wood it feels dry and irritating to the touch. Wood, exposed to dry heat and sun light looses much of it’s natural oils and moisture. This can lead to cracks and splits over time. Scott’s Liquid Gold is a product that can rejuvenate those dingy cabinets and return the sheen that was original to them when they where first installed.

Bringing the kitchen back to it original luster was our chosen project for the day, beyond a good cleaning from top to bottom we needed a product to return that new look to the kitchen cabinets. They are oak, with a varnish finish and just look tired. Liquid Gold works over natural finishes such as varnish, lacquer, and shellac.

Scott’s Liquid Gold was incorporated in 1954. They are an American manufacture who is proud to remain so. Their line of products include everything from air fresheners to stainless steel cleaner. They even make an anti-wrinkle skin care product.

Liquid Gold is a penetrating organic oil product, that restores and enhances wood’s color, grain, and sheen. It sinks into the grain and returns the natural oils and moisture that was present in your wood cabinets and furniture when it was new. Removing any waxy buildup from other polishes, it even helps hides any nicks or scratches.

It can be used as a weekly cleaner, but it’s power is dramatically noticeable when used on wood that has been sadly neglected. Immediately it will return to it’s like new appearance.

This seemed like the product to meet our needs. Spraying a light mist over the doors, letting it sit for a minute or so, then wiping down the door with a clean rag. As simple as that, and the results were immediate. The scent was quite pleasant as well. In no time at all the kitchen was sparkling clean and looking new again.

Liquid Gold worked so well we immediately went through the whole house. In the living room, Grandpa’s old oak rocker never looked so good. The antique floor model radio he brought with him when he moved in, looks like brand new. The oak mantel over the fireplace has regained its rich warm appearance. You could say the house has taken on a Norman Rockwell warmth to it.

Scott’s Liquid Gold took care of our mid-winter blues, bringing our home back to it’s original luster and warmth with very little effort and in no time at all.
