Product Review: MAC Silver Pigment

MAC pigments are simply gorgeous, and they are full of colors and quite pigmented (of course! They’re called pigments nonetheless!). Pigments are one of the favorite products for many make-up lovers because they are so multi-purpose, and you can do so much with one jar of pigments. I forgot what collection it came from. Probably, it came from the main collection of pigments from MAC, but silver is a great color to have, and if you have some extra cash sitting around you may want to invest in this product.

The Silver MAC pigment may seem quite expensive to some as it costs at around $20 for a small jar; however, it’s really well-worth it because one jar can last you a life-time since a little jar of it can last you a long time! However, in my opinion, you should purchase the silver last because it seriously isn’t one of my favorite colors. The silver MAC pigment basically looks like silver shiny metal when applied to your face, and in my opinion, silver really doesn’t hit it off with that many colors. Maybe it’s just me.

Silver pigments are like many other pigments just in a different color. It doesn’t seem to aggravate my skin or even bother it much at all. However, I find that this particular color does seem to sit in my wrinkles and enhance it making my wrinkles look a lot deeper than they actually are! This happens to me even if I add a base at the bottom or even if I moisturize my skin before applying the pigments. But other than that, it did not clog my pores at all or cause me to have any other skin problems.

Another con for me is that I have to use a brush to apply this pigment. Because I do not have that much experience with pigments and such, to me applying this pigment isn’t easy at all, and at times can be quite messy.

Personally, I don’t think that the silver can be used to enhance or highlight any features because it becomes too obvious. All you can basically do is use it as an eye shadow. This pigment is wonderful, however, if you love to paint your nails because adding a pit of the silver shimmer into the nail polish can really bring out the nail polish color, and make it even more special! Personally, I love adding this shimmer into my nail polish. It doesn’t interfere with the quality of the nail polish – all it does is add a subtle silver shine to it!

Out of all the colors in MAC pigments, I find the silver not as eye-catching or not as great of a catch that would make you want to get it. If you really love metallic colors on you, and silver is a favorite color of yours, then you should get this pigment because the color is simply gorgeous. It stands out really well, and looks wonderful whether you apply it wet or dry. Personally, I apply it dry because I find that applying it wet is a bigger hassle that I don’t want to go through.
