Panera Bread Baked Potato Soup Review

Panera Bread’s Baked Potato soup hits the spot on a cold winter’s day. I love the Panera Bread broccoli cheddar soup which has only 190 calories in a cup. I was interested to see how the Panera Bread baked potato soup would compare in terms of taste and nutrition.

The Panera potato soup was steaming hot with nice chunks of potatoes. It had a creamy consistency. I added my own salt and pepper. Although I did not like it as much as the broccoli cheddar, it was a nice change. I enjoy potato soup in the winter because the potatoes provide a nice serotonin mood lift.

A 13.25 ounce or 377 gram serving (bowl) of the Panera Bread baked potato soup has 350 calories and 21 grams of fat although a cup has 250 calories. The Panera baked potato soup in a bowl has 13 grams of saturated fat, 70 mg cholesterol, 1180 mg sodium, 33 grams of carbohydrate, 3 grams of fiber and 7 grams of sugar.

Still, in terms of calories, the baked potato soup on the Panera Bread menu has fewer calories compared to the all natural steak chili with cornbread, which has 580 calories including the chili with 390 and the cornbread muffie with 200 calories.

Another great winter soup, when you are in the mood for creamy comfort foods, is the Panera Bread creamy tomato soup without croutons on the Panera Bread menu with 300 calories and 19 grams of fat.

Here are a few things to know about the Panera Bread baked potato soup:

No. 1: Panera Bread nutrition: The baked potato soup contains 15 percent recommended Vitamin A, 40 percent recommended Vitamin C, 15 percent calcium and 6 percent iron.

No. 2: Panera Bread Baked Potato soup review: If you are on a diet, try the cup instead of the bowl. The cup of soup has 250 calories, 15 grams of fat, 5 grams of sugar7 grams of protein and 2 grams of fiber.

No. 3: The Panera Bread Baked Potato soup contains allergens for some people including milk, soy and wheat. It’s not a gluten-free soup.

No. 4: Panera Bread offers several sides with their soups including bread, apple and chips. Save the side for later unless it’s a main meal for the day.

No. 5: Panera Bread You Pick Two: On a diet, always opt for the soup with the salad rather than the soup with a sandwich. Order the dressing on the side.

Panera Bread locations across the country have the rich, creamy soups in the winter. I tried the potato soup at one of their Florida Panera Bread locations.

For taste, I give the Panera Bread potato soup 4.6 out of 5 stars.
