“Over the Hill” but Still Rock-N-Rolling Cake Decorating Ideas

Who says getting old means dentures, diapers and nursing homes? Take your Alzheimer’s, hearing aids, Clappers and shove it. Most baby boomers know by now that Shangri-La is all in the mind. For those that have reached enlightenment during the radical decades, the fountain of youth is just beginning to flow when most people are having a midlife crisis because they believe they are “over the hill.”

These people laden with pop culture are the types who are quick to cash in their life insurance policy to buy a Ferrari and chase high-priced young prostitutes with endless trips to the proctologist to buy blue pills. Facelifts and Botox shots run amok while the folks from the counter culture know that life is only just starting now that the uphill battle has been conquered.

Some people say that everyday is a celebration of life and others are happy to celebrate another year of being alive. Nevertheless, there is always time for a good party. The following cake ideas can be used everyday for fun or for a party. Be sure to substitute the eggs for eggbeaters and milk for soy to really give it good karma.

Groovy Tie-dyed Cake

What a great way to celebrate the time of the season. Bake this type of cake from your favorite organic ingredients. When the cake is still cooling down top it off with different colorful icing. Let your imagination run wild with red, green, blue, and pink colors. Swirl them around with a spreading knife or gloved fingertips to make groovy designs keeping the colors separated for optimum brightness.

Black and White Yin/Yang Cake

This is baked using a traditional round cake mold and your favorite organic ingredients. When the cake is cooling, use black and white icing to create the yin/yang symbol. I like to start with the white icing because if the line gets messed up, it’s easy to fix with the black icing. Spread the white icing into an “S” halfway down the cake and down the sides. Then spread the black icing on the other half of the “S” covering the rest of the cake’s sides. When the cake has been cooled, top off the yin/yang with white and black candies or more icing.

Buddha Candies and Pudding

With the right non-animal ingredients, I think even the Buddha would go for a binge. These simple and delicious chocolate candies can be made using your favorite ingredients in a Buddha candy mold. My personal favorite is organic dark chocolate – good for the blood pressure and release of hormonal toxins. Add to the pot some pudding made from Buddha molds and it’s definitely going to be a party filled with positive energy.
