If you’re looking to catch the latest flick in the Lansing area you have a few choices. If you have money to spend and you love fancy theatres, then NCG Eastwood Cinemas and Celebration! Cinema are for you. If you are on a tight budget and aesthetics don’t matter, then Goodrich Lansing Mall 6 or AMC Meridian Mall 6 should be right up your alley.
If you love food, fun and shopping, NCG Eastwood Cinemas has it. The theatre has a clean look, offers an arcade, and is surrounded by a major shopping center. Step into the theatre and you will find lovely fish tanks and an arcade. An added bonus is that the seats are extremely comfortable, not only do they rock back and fourth but they are positioned at a slanted angle so you don’t have to worry about someone’s head blocking your view. The concessions are a bit pricey, but a wide variety is offered. This theatre tends to be packed on Friday and Saturdays so if you don’t want to miss the previews, plan on arriving early. If you like to watch your movies in high tech style then Celebration! Cinema is for you. Located at 200 E Edgewood Blvd in Lansing, this theatre is part of the IMAX studios which offers huge screens (imagine a screen that is 9 Volkswagens tall), crystal clear sounds and high resolution because Imax 70mm film is 10 times larger than the standard 35mm film. Be warned that not all films are shown in the IMAX section. Additionally tickets for the IMAX section cost a bit more. Adult tickets are $12 each and children’s are $8 each. The theatre itself has a clean and classy appearance. It does tend to get crowded during the weekends but there are always enough ticket lanes open. You can also order your tickets online and pick them up at a machine in the lobby. The conference rooms are available for hosting banquets and the theatres are available to rent. The theatre also offers catering. Additionally they offer movie-themed birthday parties for children.

If you are not into high tech theatres, amenities, and chairs that rock then the Goodrich Lansing Mall 6 would be a good choice. Located at 921 Mall Dr West in Lansing this theatre is great for people who just want to watch a movie- no frills involved. The theatre itself doesn’t look as “clean” as some of the others but a bonus is that the concession and ticket prices are not as steep as the other two theatres. If you are on a budget, choose this movie theatre. However, if you are used to patronizing one of the other two, then you might find yourself wondering, “Where is all the stuff?”. Located at 1999 Central Park Drive in Okemos, the AMC Meridian Mall is also to the point, no frills. This theatre shows fewer movies than NCG Eastwood Cinemas and Celebration! Cinemas, and this might account for the “cozy” atmosphere. You don’t have to worry about long lines or movies selling out because this theatre has low foot traffic. You might be lucky and get your own “private screening” because the theatres are rarely full. Nevertheless, the staff is very friendly and the prices are extremely affordable.
