Mother’s Day Brunch Beverages: Four Tasty Twists on Classic Drinks

After you’ve perfected your Mother’s Day brunch menu, don’t forget to offer a few tasty beverages. If mom isn’t a fan of alcohol-filled mimosas or morning cocktails, these variations on classic brunch beverages are the perfect complement to a special meal.

Iced Tea Overhaul
Tea, isn’t just tea. With green, black, and red varieties readily available at larger grocery store chains, it’s easy to create flavorful versions of this popular brunch beverage. One of my favorite combinations is red rooibos tea, which is herbal and naturally caffeine-free, served with fresh lemon slices. Or add a burst of citrus to green tea. Simply fill clear glasses with frozen orange juice or lemonade ice cubes and pour the tea overtop for a pretty and tasty twist on classic iced tea.

Lemonade With a Twist
Speaking of lemonade, it can be overhauled too. Since lemonade is fruit-based, try adding another fruit to the mix. Get creative! I like a splash of mango juice, cranberry juice, or cherry juice poured into a glass of lemonade. Not only does the swirl of colors look springy at a Mother’s Day brunch, it also tastes like a fancy restaurant concoction.

Not-So-Plain Water
If your mother is a water-only lady, you can spice that up too. Add color and just a hint of flavor by adding fresh fruit to the ice cube tray. Small round fruits such as blueberries, raspberries and cherries freeze nicely in rectangular ice cube trays. Or, consider adding edible flower blooms to the ice cube tray for a beautiful touch.

Soda Fountain Creations
Does mom love pop? Turn mom’s favorite carbonated beverage into a soda fountain delight. Splurge on a bottle of bar-quality cherry syrup, lemon-lime syrup, or vanilla syrup. Simply add a spoon of the colorful drink mixer to the soda for a flavorful twist on her favorite beverage. Serve the brunch beverages in tall fountain glasses with long striped straws.
