Mohegan Sun’s Johnny Rockets Restaurant is a Nostalgic Eating Experience

The Mohegan Sun Resort and Casino offers many places to eat from their multiple buffets, Krispy Kreme donut shop, and restaurants like Michael Jordan’s Café. One of the restaurants that provides the most fun is Johnny Rockets. This diner has great food, and will provide a fun and memorable time.

As you enter Johnny Rockets, you are taking a step back into time with their 60s dining experience. Everything from the floor, booths, and decorations are designed after the 1960s. Even the waiters and cooks are all dressed like 1960s, giving you the true 1960s dining experience.

As you take your seat, you can hear selected tracks from the 1960s playing and these are all found on individual jukeboxes at every table. The songs are only a nickel each, and range from Aretha Frankin and popular 60s groups like the Beatles. You do not have to worry about bringing a pocket full of nickels though, because they give you three four every time you go there. That way everyone at the table can pick songs and it is all free.

The song you pick is crucial too, because at certain points during the day, the whole crew randomly breaks out and starts performing songs. One of the most performed songs at Johnny Rockets is Aretha Franklin’s Respect, with five or six employees blasting out the words as they dance for people eating. This is an entertaining part of the dining experience and adds a lot to eating there.

The menu is not too large, but offers a wide variety of food. One of the most popular appetizers is the half fires and half onion rings plates. You get plenty of both for everyone, and both are delicious. The waiters even pour the ketchup for you, usually in a small smiley face.

The entrees range from grilled cheese to chicken sandwiches, and their chili fries are so filling that they can be used for a main course. There is nothing extravagant about their meals, just good food, with a classic vibe that will keep you coming back. Their cups are even designed in a classic glass curved style, and they offer milkshakes and a wide variety of sodas. One of the best sodas is Pibb, a soda like Dr. Pepper and hard ot find in Connecticut.

The prices are average there, and a bill for two people will be around fifteen to twenty dollars. They also offer take-out and a wide range of memorabilia including shirts, hats, and the same cups that you drink out of.

Johnny Rockets is open seven days a week, and sometimes even past midnight. This is great little place to eat at for a snack, a break from the gambling, or just to go there on your own trip. The food and experience are both worth the price.
