Maksim Chmerkovskiy as the Bachelor?

It would have been my dream Bachelor season. It would have been my fantasies coming to life on my TV screen. It would have been a Bachelor season that had me mesmerized each and every week. If only. If only. I just found out that Maksim Chmerkovskiy is in the Ukraine right now filming The Bachelor for that country’s first season of the show. Oh those lucky Ukrainian ladies!

All my friends and family know that I am a huge Maksim fan. Every Dancing With The Stars season that he is on, are my favorites. When writing my little articles about DWTS each week when it’s on, I always gush about Maks and describe his every move since, to me, it’s the most interesting part of the show. But I do get around to mentioning his partner, as well as the other contestants. It’s only fair, right? So hearing the news that Maksim is on the Ukrainian Bachelor show was bittersweet for me.

Apparently Maksim was offered to do our Bachelor show in the U.S., but he turned it down. Reporters were then asking him if it was because he dislikes American women. Maks bristled at that and said that statement was so absurd that he couldn’t believe he was even dignifying it with a reply. But hey, Maks, that’s the first thing us American women are going to think. You turned us down, so of course we’re going to feel a little rejected.

Maksim also went on to say that he chose to do this in the Ukraine because he thought being on the very first Bachelor show there would make it be most real. Hey Maks, American women know how to make it real too. Can you tell I’m a little mad at him right now? Although he did go on to say that another reason why he chose the Ukraine Bachelor show over ours is that the Ukraine is his native country and he wanted to give something back. He said it feels great that he can help direct young people’s drives to better themselves. I’m not sure if his Bachelor stint will do all of that, but his intentions are good. So I guess we need to share him. He also went on to say that he was tired of dancing and he likes the fact that he’s not going to be judged, placed or criticized. I wonder if he’s ever watched a Bachelor show. ALL the women will be talking about him and judging and/or criticizing, depending on how he treats them. But I guess it won’t be quite as brutal as what Len, Bruno and Carrie Ann dish out.

While digging around for more information about this breaking news, I watched the first promo ad that is being shown in the Ukraine. It’s much different than the type of promos we put out for our Bachelor show. We tend to show some of the real previews from upcoming episodes in order to tease the viewers to watch. With the promo ad in the Ukraine, it was done like a video. Everything is in slow motion, and we see Maks decked out in a fancy suit looking all handsome and suave. He picks up a rose and walks through a cocktail party, checking out all the women. Of course, the women are all turning their heads and checking him out too as he walks by. I have no idea if those women in the promo are actually women on the show, but it’s a very sexy ad. It leaves us wanting to see more.

Along with the promo ad, I also checked out a couple of interviews Maks did in that country discussing the show. Of course I have no idea what anybody is saying in them because they’re not speaking English. One reporter was asking girls on the street what they thought about Maksim being the Bachelor, and even though they’re speaking in another language, you can totally tell what they’re saying by the big smiles and the swoons and the rolling eyes of the girls being asked. It was funny to watch.

An article I read had Maks saying that he realizes it’s hard to find someone you can connect to on a project like this, but his thoughts are that nothing is impossible. He said that for the sake of the show, he can’t reveal anything, but he did say that he is very pleasantly surprised so far. So I assume from that little revelation that there is one lucky girl over there who has caught his attention.

March 17th is the date when the actual show will begin airing in the Ukriane on their STB network. I am hereby imploring the powers that be at our networks to please show this series over here, with a translator of course. I’ll even break my cardinal rule and actually watch something with subtitles if it means watching Maks in action. Let’s fantasize a bit about replacing Brad Womack for Maksim Chmerkovskiy. See? It’s better already, isn’t it? Just think of all those romantic settings with dinner and candlelight and the overnight dates in the fantasy rooms. I worry we’ll never get to see it, but I’ll be perusing the internet after March 17th to see if I can find it somewhere.

And I’m still mad at him for not choosing OUR Bachelor show.
