Gift baskets are fun to make. It gives to the chance to make a gift the way they want to. It might seem a little expensive to make a gift basket, but it doesn’t have to be. There are quite a few places to find baskets and items to use.
A great gift basket idea would be candles. People love candles. They can be used for decorating, lighting up the room, or setting off a nice scent. Gift baskets can be given as prizes as parties or baby showers, gifts for birthdays and holidays, or just a gift for no reason at all.
Here are a few stores where you can find inexpensive items for your candle gift basket.
The Basket Itself.
The first place I would end up going would be The Dollar Tree or a similar dollar store. You can get the basket for a dollar (including tax, which still isn’t that much). With that price being so low, you can even get a few baskets. You can get brown or colorful baskets. Baskets with or without handles. You can find them in different shapes, sizes, and material. This is great because you can probably find one to hold whatever you want to put in it.
Another place I would check is Wal-Mart, as they usually have almost everything at reasonable prices. But the dollar store is definitely my first choice. My 2nd choice would be a store called Five Below (a store with great stuff, and nothing is over $5). Now, you may only find gift baskets as seasonal items, but it never hurts to check, providing you have one in your area.
Tissue Paper.
Now using tissue paper is optional, but some people may prefer it to add decoration to it or to make it seem more like a gift basket. You can find tissue paper in most colors, in packs of more than one, and you can cut it to the size you need if it is too big. This is great, as you can easily find tissue paper that will look good with the basket.
Once again, I would end up going to The Dollar Tree for the tissue paper. They have packs of 6 or 8, and all for a dollar! I have seen some in plain colors and some with patterns on them. You can also get the tissue paper when you get the gift basket.
I would also check both Wal-Mart and Five Below. You can usually find tissue paper at these stores for a dollar or so. This is great, as it gives you more choices of tissue paper, on the off-chance that you do not like the ones at The Dollar Tree.
Candles.
Of course, the candle gift basket is not complete without the actual candles. Finding candles for reasonable prices is not a hard task. There are quite a few places to look for them. In some of these stores, you may find both scented and unscented candles.
As usual, you can always check at The Dollar Tree. You can get packs of tea lights or just single candles for a dollar. This will give you the chance to buy a few candles for your basket.
Personally, I would also check Wal-Mart, as I love their candles. You can get some really nice smelling candles for as low as $0.33. Or you can buy them already in the glass holders for as low as a dollar.
I would also check Five Below. They do sell both candles and incense (if they have an incense burner). I have never bought candles from them to know the exact prices, but I can tell you that they will not be more than five dollars. Incense, you can find them for around five for a dollar, which is a good deal in my opinion.
Other places to check for inexpensive candles would be Rite-Aid, The Family Dollar (I once got a pack of six hot apple pie scented candles for a dollar), and even the trusted online site Amazon.com.
Candle Holders.
This is also optional, but it might be a nice addition to your candle gift basket. You can get nice candle holders at The Dollar Tree, Wal-Mart, and maybe even Five Below. I would also check Rite-Aid and The Family Dollar. You can get them in different shapes, colors, and sizes. If you are getting a glass ones, you could possibly wrap them in tissue paper to make sure they do not break, but that is up to you.
