Make Your Own Stained Glass Light Fixtures

These stained glass Light Fixtures will add a touch of historical elegance to any room in your home. Transforming existing clear glass Light Fixtures into stained glass works of art is an easy craft project.

You can use this stained glass treatment to update those terrible 1970’s boxed fluorescent lighting you often find in kitchens as well. Just remove the clear glass or Plexiglas cover the box and paint it using these steps.

You can make these simple stained glass Light Fixtures for your own home in a matter of hours. In Fact, Making these stained glass Light Fixtures should take you about 2 hours tops!

To Transformed Your Clear Glass Light Fixtures into Stained Glass Light Fixtures You Will Need:
Peel and stick lead
Clear glass Light Fixtures
Stained Glass Paint
Paint Brushed
Scissors

To start this craft project you need to decide on a pattern. Your stained glass Light Fixtures pattern will determine what stained glass paint colors you need to buy.

Measure the clear glass Light Fixtures you are going to transform. Mark this space out on a piece of drawing paper and sketch out your design. If you have markers I suggest coloring in areas the colors you would like them to be. The more specific you are in the planning the less room for mistakes.

Once you have established your stained glass design you need to transfer it to your Light Fixtures. I like to tape the sketch to the inside of the Light Fixtures that it shows through the front. You can fill in just like a coloring book!

Painting the stained glass is the next step. Use a natural bristle artist paintbrush to fill in your colors. Work up to the edges in each block of color. You will be covering the rough edges with peel and stick lead, so you don’t have to make them absolutely perfect.

Once your stained glass Light Fixtures is completely painted you need to let it dry complete. While your paint is drying your can work on your peel and stick lead.

Remove the sketch from the back of the Light Fixtures and use this to cut out your peel and stick lead.

This is a great way to make your stained glass look built in to the Light Fixtures.

Once you lead is cut you can install it. Carefully apply your peel and stick lead over all of the edges, just like real stained glass.
