L’Oreal Feria Hair Color Product Review

L’Oreal Feria hair color boasts “multi-faceted shimmering colour”. As someone who is not aging gracefully, I color my hair three to four times a year. I normally buy the less expensive hair color brands, but I found this product on sale and decided to see if it would live up to its promotion. Here I give a product review for L’Oreal Feria in an effort to help the consumer.

Choosing the Hair Color

Feria offers many different shades of hair color. My natural hair color is a rich brown that gets lots of reddish highlights in the sun. In the fall and winter, I tend to choose a more brownish shade to match what my original hair color would look like after the highlights fade.

I chose Feria hair color #45 French Roast – Deep Bronzed Brown because it boosts golden tones. There was an equivalent shade that reduced golds and reds, but I was afraid of achieving a “flat” colored look that some other hair color brands may leave when dying a darker brown.

What L’Oreal Feria Hair Color Promotes

The box claims not only shimmering shades of hair color, but 3x the highlights and gentle deep conditioning. As my hair is fine, ultra thin and prone to frizziness when damaged, I hoped that this product was as gentle as it claimed.

Coloring My Hair with Feria

I followed the instructions included with the hair dye, including performing the allergy test. The product had a normal strong and fruity smell as most other hair colors I’ve used. The product was similar in mixing and consistency as other hair color brands. The included hair coloring gloves were much thicker and easier to use than the less expensive brands.

L’Oreal Feria After Color Conditioner

The Feria conditioner was thicker than other after color conditioners I’ve used from other brands. This made me hopeful for even better conditioning than other products. After waiting the recommended time and rinsing as directed, my hair felt thicker, but not any smoother.

The Condition of My Hair after Coloring with L’Oreal Feria

In order to get a better feel of the actual condition of my hair after using the L’Oreal Feria hair color, I allowed my hair to air dry without my usual leave-in strengthening product. Once dry, my hair was fuller, and it seemed healthy, with very little frizz at the ends. My hair was left in better condition than the less expensive brands I normally use.

Actual Hair Color after Dying

There were actually a lot of highlights in my hair after using this shade of Feria. In fact, this specific shade is actually more colorful than I usually choose in the fall and winter. The hair color result nearly matched the shade shown on the top of the box. I look forward to trying the equivalent shade that reduces gold and red tones for winter. I believe I will not get a “flat” color from this brand of hair coloring.

Do I Recommend L’Oreal Feria Hair Coloring?

Yes, I will likely change to Feria as my choice of hair color. In this case, you actually get what you pay for.
