LL Bean Women’s Goose Down Vest

LL Bean makes quality outdoor clothing, and I have been getting a lot of use out of my LL Bean Women’s Goose Down Vest. I love this garment! When I wear it I stay warm as it keeps my core temperature even, yet my arms are free so I don’t have the bulk and weight of a winter coat.

The LL Bean Women’s Goose Down Vest is filled with 650 goose down, which is an excellent insulator. I am even allergic to feathers and while I cannot sleep on down pillows, I have had absolutely no problems with my LL Bean Goose Down Vest.

I actually own four other vests, but prefer the styles that hug my body, and this one does just that. The outer shell is made from nylon and consists of quilted squares, so the down feathers don’t shift around, a design that allows me to stay nice and toasty.

The interior of the vest is lined, and the zippered pockets are also lined, featuring hand warming fabric. Likewise the substantial collar is also lined with a soft and warm material. There is even one interior pocket where I like to keep my cell phone. I really like the high collar because it is very versatile. I can zip it all the way up to keep my neck and chin warm, or I can unzip it partially and have the top open. I wear this LL Bean Goose Down Vest in both ways, depending on the weather.

I do, however, have one complaint about how the pockets are designed. To close them you pull the zipper upward, and obviously downward to open. This seems backward to me, as it might be easy for these to become unzipped accidentally with this design. It is a minor pet peeve of mine. As stated, I keep my cell phone in the interior pocket, and usually use the outer pockets to warm my hands and carry tissues.

Our weather has been around 50 degrees, and while it’s too warm for a winter coat, I get too chilled when I go outside wearing just a shirt or sweater. Donning my LL Bean Goose Down Vest is the perfect solution!

It has held up well, and I can spot clean it with a damp rag if it gets slightly dirty. LL Bean does state that this vest is machine washable, but I have not had good luck washing items of clothing that are down filled, they never look as good as they did prior to the washing. Because of this I have my down vest dry cleaned as needed.

LL Bean makes this vest in sizes small, medium, large and extra-large. It is also available in your choice of colors including black, periwinkle blue, navy, dark fuchsia, green and brown. It retails for $49.00, but I have not been one bit sorry that I spent the money on this vest. Of all the vests I own, this is my favorite.
