In order to expedite the claims process, make sure that you return the DD Form 1840/1840R within 70 days of the delivery. But fortunately, active duty members, dependents and retirees are able to access free legal advice from Beale AFB without having to worry about the cost of legal advice. If you require the services of an attorney, stop by Mondays between 12:00pm-2:00pm, or Wednesdays from 1:00pm-3:00pm. If these walk-in hours do not suit you and you need to make an appointment, call in during usual business hours Monday-Friday from 7:30am-4:30pm.
Taxes
Another useful legal service that is available for active duty members and retirees is the free income tax preparation service that is offered annually from January-April.
