Lavender Festival in Sequim, WA

Sequim Lavender Festival will be hosting their 11th Annual Lavender Festival on July 20, 21, & 22, 2007. There will be Lavender Farms on Tour, a Street Fair featuring Northwest crafts and food.

Lovers of lavender flowers, plants and fragrance will adore the chance to immerse themselves in the lavender fields located on Washington State’s Olympic Peninsula. The lavender fields are located near the famous Olympic National Park in the state of Washington.

The festival includes eight lavender farms on tour. Each farm features fields of lavender, workshops, demonstrations, food, music and more. Local lavender products will be available at the arts and crafts fair, along with music, food and local wines.

The Sequim-Dungeness Valley in Washington has the ideal lavender growing climate. The region is similar to the Provence region of France, legendary for it’s lavender fragrance. During the festival, visitors can take advantage of the opportunity to see the lavender farms with fields of fragrant lavender.

Eight farms will be on tour. There are many splendid varieties or lavender basking in the sunshine. Visitors are allowed to wander the field, possibly while sipping a glass of wine while enjoying the color and fragrance of the lavender fields. Farmers will share techniques of cultivating, drying and using lavender. Each farm offers the opportunity to pick the fragrant herb. The price for the farm tour is $15 and includes the following farms:

Lost Mountain Lavender has over 100 cultivars of lavender. Guided tour with explanations about the different varieties and uses of the herb. Music and food all weekend.

Angel Farm, Sequim Lavender Farm: Heritage working farm is transformed into a french Country Marketplace. Guests can create an lavender wreath and listen to stories about growing and using lavender. In the evening there will be dancing at the Angel Farm’s Barn Dance.

Olympic Lavender Farm: Certified organic lavender farm with panoramic view of the Olympic Mountains Lavender Studio offers special culinary and body products.

Jardin du Soleil Lavender: Magical gardens surrounds the 1880 Victorian home. There will be lively music, great food, local wine and lavender ice cream. Cut a fragrant lavender bouquet.

Port Williams Lavender: Guests can enjoy a leisurely stroll through rows of f fragrant lavender. The owner will be demonstrating the process of essential oil distillation while sharing Port Williams

Purple Haze Lavender Farm: Cut a bunch of fresh lavender, with lavender being distilled into essential oil, eat some cool lavender ice-cream, drink refreshing lavender lemonade. There will also be gourmet food, live music and lavender margaritas.

Cedarbrook Lavender & Herb Farm: 70 variety’s of lavender are grown at Cedarbrook, which celebrates is 40th anniversary this year.

Sunshine Lavender Farm: Guests can roam through acres of lavender fields and enjoy the sights scents and smells. There will be farm tours, demonstrations unique tractors and antique cars.

The weekend will be filled with festivities. The Street Fair will offer lavender, lavender products, art works, lavender ware and natural crafts from more than 150 vendors from across the Northwest. Music, dancing, food and wine will be part of the festivities.
