Kate Middleton has officially debuted the royal baby bump and, of course, her style choice is grabbing headlines, but so is the mysterious gold ring she wore on her right hand. For her Feb. 19 visit to London’s Hope House, Kate Middleton went for a black and gray Max Mara Studio dress from the 2011 collection, the HRH Duchess Kate fashion blog confirms. The Duchess also accessorized with three major pieces of a jewelry: a pair of drop pearl earrings, a button pendant, and a gold and ruby ring.
The ring on Kate’s right middle finger has people buzzing, as the Duchess is rarely seen wearing rings other than her large sapphire and diamond engagement ring. According to sources, the ring worn on the Duchess’ right hand is a gold and ruby setting that she’s had for “several years.” The gold ring is much more understated than the engagement ring given to her by Prince William in 2010. It appears to have some kind of knot near the center setting which also includes a small red ruby.
Kate Middleton’s jewelry typically draws some press, especially from the fashion blogs that cover her styles closely. Rarely, though, has a piece drawn such buzz as the right hand ring the Duchess wore today which drew questions on social media sites including Facebook and Twitter.
As for the rest of her look for her 2013 return to royal duty, Kate slipped into a black and gray long sleeved Max Mara wrap dress. The belted piece hit above her knee and was tied above her growing baby bump. Although it is not officially maternity wear, the dress was a good choice as the Duchess transitions between regular clothes and maternity sizes. The 19 or 20 week pregnant Duchess was noticeably attempting to downplay her growing curves by wearing a cami under the V-neck dress.
