A good friend of mine is the lead guitarist in a Hartford, Connecticut area Steely Dan tribute band. Before attending a large outdoor concert that they were headlining a few nights ago, I stopped at a Whole Foods supermarket, to purchase a cold soda. Instead of a can or 20 ounce bottle of name brand soda, I purchased a 12 ounce bottle of IZZE Sparkling Blueberry Juice.
I am a regular consumer of IZZE Sparkling Juices, but had never tried the blueberry variety until this week. While I think that this beverage tasted good, it did not necessarily offer the flavor that I was hoping for. Nonetheless, this sparkling juice drink is quite pleasant – tasting and reasonably – priced. Presented here, is one food writer’s honest and objective product review of IZZE Sparkling Blueberry Juice.
Size The net weight of the standard – sized bottle of IZZE Sparkling Blueberry Juice is 12 ounces. Funny thing, every time I drink an IZZE sparkling beverage, they seem to last much longer than other 12 ounce sodas that come in a can. When I drank the blueberry soda earlier this week, it lasted for the entire concert, which was two hours long.
Price The individual 12 ounce bottle of IZZE Sparkling Blueberry Juice that I purchased at a Whole Foods supermarket a few nights ago cost $1.49. I thought that the price was reasonable, especially considering the great flavor and overall high quality of the product.
I have also payed just $1 for an individual bottle of IZZE Sparkling Juice at a Hartford, Connecticut CVS Pharmacy and I normally pay $2 for one 12 ounce bottle of IZZE Sparkling Juice at local Starbucks coffee shops.
IZZE Blueberry Sparkling Juice is also sold in four packs, which, in the Hartford, Connecticut area retail for approximately $5.49 each.
Consistency IZZE Sparkling Blueberry Juice features a pleasant consistency that to me, seems to be a little bit thicker than most regular sodas. I would imagine that is because of the fruit juice that is present in the drink. The carbonation in this juice drink adds some vitality and excitement to the item and essentially makes it a soda, of sorts.
Nutritional Facts IZZE Sparkling Blueberry Juice contains 130 calories, per one 12 ounce bottle. This sparkling juice also contains 0 grams total fat, 30 mg of sodium, 33 grams total carbohydrates, 31 grams of sugars and 0 grams of protein, per one 12 ounce bottle.
Taste / Flavor If I had to pick one word to describe the flavor of IZZE Sparkling Blueberry Juice, I would strongly have to consider the word under – whelming. Truth be told, I was expecting more of a satisfying blueberry flavor from this sparkling juice / soda. It’s not that this beverage isn’t tasty. It features a nice and sweet taste, that is just slightly tangy.
I am a big fan of blueberries and had been wanting to try this variety of IZZE Sparkling Juice for quite a while. While the liquid is indeed the color of blueberries, to me, this sparkling juice does not really taste very much like blueberries.
It tastes more like a grape juice with a little bit of blueberry juice added to it. Maybe, if I drank it in a glass with ice cubes, it would taste more like blueberries.
Of course, an opinion is only an opinion. You might drink an IZZE Sparkling Blueberry Juice and think that it tastes a lot like blueberries.
Packaging IZZE Sparkling Blueberry Juice is packaged in clear glass bottles. The bottles have long necks and are shaped like many types of beer bottles. The bottles feature minimal amounts of wording and illustration, but the rear label does list all pertinent ingredient and nutritional information.
I must say, however, the printing on the rear label is very small and fairly – difficult to read. Also, the bottle of IZZE Sparkling Blueberry Juice features a metal cap that is not necessarily easy to remove. Usually, when I open a bottle of IZZE, I need to place a napkin around the cap, to open it easily.
Overall Rating This sparkling juice drink / soda offers a pleasant and sweet flavor that is quite tasty. To my tastebuds, however, this sparkling juice / soda does not taste an awful lot like blueberries. Rather, I think it tastes more like grape juice, with a little bit of blueberry flavoring added. I am a regular consumer of IZZE Sparkling Fruit Juices and I thought that this drink taste more like blueberries. I would still recommend this drink, but I would have to say that in my opinion, it does not offer much in the way of blueberry flavor.
