Inexpensive Winter Vacation Destinations

Winter vacation destinations for those individuals in the northern United States that do not enjoy the cold and winter elements are those that are warm, sunny and have no snow. Follow the birds and select a winter vacation destination in the south. Several states offer inexpensive vacation spots that are either romantic or family friendly.

Florida, the Sunshine State, is a favorite destination for many individuals. Hot spots for families are the Universal Studios and Disney World but those can lead to a huge dent in the pocket book. Think about taking an inexpensive winter vacation and hit the beaches that surround the beautiful state. Enjoy the many free water sports such as swimming, snorkeling and fishing. Set your sites on the Tampa area and visit the Lowry Park Zoo. Those individuals with children will enjoy the petting zoo. Meander the streets of the communities within Florida and visit the many shops and museums open to the public.

Texas, the Longhorn State, is another favorite location for an inexpensive winter vacation. The beaches along the gulf offer a warm breeze and free water sports. Each community has a western atmosphere that is seen by the many individuals wearing cowboy boots and hats. Site-seeing throughout the state provides many inexpensive and free locations to visits. The Mexican cuisine is inexpensive and interesting on the pallet especially in areas close to the Mexican border. Rock hunt for Indian artifacts and enjoy fishing the many rivers throughout the state.

The Myrtle Beach area in South Carolina provides winter tourists with the serene pleasure of the lapping waves and the warm sun. Southern style cooking is plentiful in the small mom and pop restaurants scattered throughout the area. The hospitality of the local residents provide an “at-home” feeling for all who visit. Make sure to visit the gift shops throughout the area for inexpensive mementos from your memorable trip.

Arkansas’ Ozark area is beautiful during the winter months. The terrain in the area provides hunters with excellent locations to hunt deer, rabbits and other game. Hunt for diamonds in Murfreesboro. A small fee per person provides a full days worth of entertainment searching for that one special stone. Visit Hot Springs and enjoy a soak at the local bath house. Branson, Missouri is located just a short drive north from the area. Enjoy the many shows on the Branson strip. Check the Internet for discounts and free tickets to the areas shows throughout the winter months.

Make sure to consider either New Mexico or Arizona for an inexpensive winter vacation destination. Snowbirds love the area but tourists will also find many inexpensive things to do in both states. Just driving through the region is a visually pleasing adventure for those of us that live in the northern states. The vegetation and landscape is beautiful and very different than the green grass we see during our summer months. The sand, cactus and mountains are visually stimulating. Visit the many caves, ghost towns and Indian ruins in the area.
