How to Soothe an Achy Body

Aches and Pains, Massage Chairs, Massagers

People are very active. From exercise, to sports, to just the everyday moving around from one place to another, our bodies take some wear and tear. With physical activities, muscles are strained and in turn, make for some very achy and sore bodies.

Let’s say you decided to get back into the habit of exercising regularly so you pop in an exercise tape and get to work. More than likely you won’t be able to finish the whole routine, you will get tired quickly, and before you know it you’re watching the tape as you lie in your floor exhausted. But hey, at least you got in a slight workout before you crashed and for that you feel good. However, when you wake up the next morning, you can barely get out of bed. Your muscles are tight and sore and your body is aching. It takes a minute before you realize that your workout the previous day has woken up some parts of you that had been asleep for quite awhile.

Move around! Your first intention will probably be to just stay in bed. It will do you more good to get out of bed and start moving around. When you go on with your daily routine, you are continuing to exercise those muscles and you will see that they will start to loosen up a bit. If you choose to lie around or not move around as usual, your muscles will start to stiffen up and it will only get harder to make yourself get up.

Take a hot bath. Most people are comforted by the soothing heat from a hot bath. If you’re trying to soothe achy muscles or an overall achy body, add some Epson salt to your bath water. This is good for relieving body aches and pains. If it helps you to relax, play some soothing music or light some candles while you soak your body in the tub. When you get out, you will feel a lot better and your body will be more relaxed and less stiff.

Get a massage. Massages are meant to help us soothe aches and pains. They help to relax your muscles and leave you feeling refreshed. You can choose to get a deep tissue massage to work out all of the kinks. If you don’t want to go to a spa for a massage, you can buy one of those battery operated massagers they sell in the store. And massage chairs are always nice to have. They have different settings and massage your neck, shoulders, and back.

Use a heating pad. A long time ago before day spas and bath time luxuries, people used standard heating pads when they had an achy body. The heat feels very relaxing, as long as you don’t have the setting up too high and it helps to alleviate pain and soreness in the area.

Try chamomile or lavender.
These are two very soothing scents that help you to relax. Using lotions or body wash with these scents has a calming and relaxing effect. Drinking chamomile tea has helped with cramps and body aches and the aroma in lavender has been said to help melt away stress and muscle tension.
