How to Reduce Mental Fatigue

How to Reduce Stress, Stress During Pregnancy

Everyone has some degree of mental fatigue especially by the end of the day. However there are some people who have an extreme form of mental fatigue that can start from the time they get out of bed. Mental fatigue often stems from stress. Feelings of stress related to work, intimate relationships, health, life responsibilities, and ongoing conflicts within the self regarding various issues. Someone who frequently experiences mental fatigue will often feel tired; have poor self esteem, a low desire for sexual intimacy and goals that are left unfulfilled. The good news is there are things a person can do to reduce mental fatigue and feel great.

Avoid dwelling on what is seen as the problem. Constantly thinking about something that is of concern will not make things better but instead lead to mental fatigue. For any problem brainstorm solutions and decide on which solution would be the best to implement. Sometimes that solution could simply mean accepting the situation and moving on.

Eliminate any negative thoughts. Negative thoughts are extremely powerful and can quickly create mental fatigue. Instead redirect your attention to something else. For example, call up a friend, watch a movie, read a book or become involved in some sort of hobby that would keep the mind preoccupied.

Get sleep. A person will always experience mental fatigue if they don’t get enough rest. Adults should have at least 6-8 hours of sleep in order to feel refresh and rejuvenated the next day. So avoid caffeine before going to bed, thinking about all the things you need to do the next day and staying up past your bed time.

Eat and eat good foods. The mind will not be able to function in a healthy state if you avoid eating and don’t eat good foods. Three meals a day with snack in between is important. Fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meats and nuts are some of the best foods to eat in order for the mind and body to feel energized.

Pritorize your daily responsibilities. The mind can only do so much. With a wealth of responsibilities mental fatigue can result. So make a list of all the things that you do in a day. Then number your daily responsibilities with 1 being most important. The things that are least important create a separate time and day to do those things.

Relax your mind and body. What relaxes a person’s mind and body varies with each person. For example, for me I like to get massages, work out at the gym, go for a walk, talk a warm bath, drink herbal tea and go out to dinner with a friend. Think about what makes you feel good and would reduce your level of mental fatigue.

By following these tips you will be able to reduce mental fatigue and feel better overall about yourself and your life.
