How to Make a Silk Poinsettia Floral Arrangement

Poinsettias are a popular Christmas plants that are known for decorations. Many people buy live poinsettias for gifts and home decorations for the Christmas season.

Some people have allergies to the pollen off which poinsettias put. This can cause a miserable experience when coming across a live poinsettia.

For those who are allergic to live poinsettias, silk poinsettias can be the answers to the allergy problems. Silk poinsettias can create some beautiful arrangements for the Christmas holiday season.

They can store any silk floral arrangements, such as ones with poinsettias, each year for future use. This makes it easier to decorate for the next holiday season.

There are several tones of red silk poinsettias from which to choose. They range from the typical red to deep red to an almost maroon color. Not to mention, there are white and gold silk poinsettias from which to choose.

Silk poinsettias can be found in bunches or bushes at any hobby and craft store. Silk poinsettia bushes normally have six to twelve flowers depending on the size of the floral bushes. For larger silk poinsettias, they can purchase them individually.

We can arrange the silk poinsettias in a variety of ways. They can be placed in various floral vases. We can also arrange them in any other larger container with the use of floral Styrofoam pieces.

Silk Poinsettia Vase Arrangements

Start by cutting the poinsettias off the bunches leaving as long of a stem as possible with wire cutters or pliers. In a single floral vase, place some small colored marbles in the bottom of the vase. Place one or two of the silk poinsettias in the vase. The colored marbles will add a splash of color to the arrangement.

For larger vases, more silk poinsettias and marbles will make a fuller arrangement. Babies’ breath or other types of greenery can be added for a fuller look to the vase arrangements.

Larger Silk Poinsettia Arrangements

For larger silk poinsettia arrangements, two to six bushes of silk flowers will need to be used. The size of the container will determine how many bushes of silk poinsettias will be used.

A piece of floral Styrofoam will need to be used in the bottom of the container to hold the poinsettias in place. The silk poinsettias will need to be cut from the base of the bush of poinsettias for a better arrangement of flowers.

The silk poinsettias will be arranged in the container and Styrofoam in a manner that is pleasing to your eye. The taller poinsettias will need to be place more in the center of the arrangement. By doing this, the arranging of the taller poinsettias won’t block the shorter flowers.

While you may think this is time consuming or even expensive, it really isn’t either. Compare the prices of the materials needed for this project over a premade poinsettia arrangement. You will find the cost of making your own will be far cheaper than a premade arrangement. Not only that, you will be able to choose the color of poinsettias, container, and any other additions that suit your taste and decorum for the Christmas holiday.
