How to Get 300 Followers on Digg

Getting diggs on Digg.com has become a challenge for many. When I started out on Digg, I was confused just like the rest. I would submit article after article and no one would digg my work. I tried messaging people and even posting my content on Twitter with a link to my Digg account in hopes that someone would click on it. The results were always the same. Nothing happened. As I looked at the front page of Digg, I looked at all the top ranking articles and started to wonder, “Why are they getting so many diggs and I am not? I began to study them. Beginning with the top Digg users, I looked at their content, titles, submission times and dates, followers, time of membership, etc. After all the information I looked at, I found that everyone on top had one thing in common: followers.

Digg.com is set up to be a social bookmarking site. There are so many on the Internet which makes figuring them out difficult at best. So what can we do to figure out Digg when there is so much information out there with 50 different ways to succeed on the site? All we have to do to figure it out is look at what the site is. Digg is a social bookmarking site. The keyword here is social. The more social you are on this site, just like all of them, the more results you will get.

When I finished my research on those top producers on Digg, I discovered that all of them had at least 300 followers or more. These followers served as the launching pad for their material. When an article is submitted, it will not get noticed until it has had some activity. Digg.com even states that having followers is essential for getting more diggs.

There is a very simple way to get more followers whether you have followers or you are just starting out. The first thing you do is go to the section in Digg.com that you primarily write for. There are all kinds of topics and your job is to find the one that best fits you. Once you have found that topic, click on the link and it will take you to the top content with the most diggs in that category. Second, click on the profiles of the people who have submitted that content and when you get to their profile page, find their friends and click on that link. Lastly, go through the list of followers and look for real people, not strangely named businesses.

Once you have found these people, follow them. After you have followed them, go to there pages and check out the work they have submitted. Make sure you Digg their content and make relevant comments to their posts. They will reciprocate and follow you back. This works for a few reasons. The first reason is you are finding active users that Digg on a regular basis. This ensures that you have a better chance of them digging your material. Second, you have found real people that are interested in the topic that you are writing about. This is the reason that people move to the front of Digg.com. Targeted and active followers will help you grow your social bookmarking status.
