Free Photos

We all have recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation. Some of the recipes are very dear to our family and then there are those that we have found or created that we would like to stay in the family. So, why not make your own family cookbook? Creating your own family cookbook is a great way to keep up with those favorite family recipes and it will make it easier to pass it down through the generations to come. In this guide, I am going to help you with the making of your family cookbook. However, feel free to add your own special touches and changes where you need too. This is just a simple guide for you to go by.

Your first step to creating the family cookbook is gathering all of the recipes. Now, don’t expect to create this cookbook in an hour. It may take you a day or longer. These types of things take time to get them just right. So, start out by collecting your recipes. You may have to go to family members and get copies of the recipes they have. If you have recipes in your head, you will need to write them down. So, gather all the recipes and get them in one place. Then continue on with the making of your family cookbook.

After collecting all of your recipes, you will need to begin your organizing process. Go through all of the recipes and organize them by category. You can use paper clips to separate the different categories. Once you have all of them categorized, you can move onto the next step of this guide.

Now you are ready to begin your typing. Open a word document, any type will do like Microsoft Word, Works, or Word Pad. When you have opened a new document, start typing your recipes. You can type more than one recipe on each page, or you can type one recipe on a page. However you want to do it is fine. You can also add photos to the pages for the different recipes. If you have photos, you can scan them and import them to your document by selecting the Insert > Picture > from File option. If you don’t have photos and would like to add some type of photo, you can find many free photos online that you can use. You can also add your own personal notes, who the recipe is by, and more to your recipes. This is a great way for generations to come to know where the recipe came from and so on.

When you are finished typing the recipes, you can print the pages out. Then you can use a binder, scrapbook album, or anything you want to create the family cookbook. You can also decorate the front of the album with photos of your family. By using a binder, album, or something along those lines, you can continue to add to the cookbook. To organize the recipes by categories, you can use tabbed folders, or the separators that are sold with the tabs. There are many ways to personalize these cookbooks, so sit around and think of ways you can decorate them. Feel free to change the text color, style, and font before printing your recipes. You will also need a hole puncher in order to place them in a binder or album.
