How to Build an Outdoor Wet Bar

After you have gathered together all of the supplies that you will need for building your outdoor wet bar, it is time to get started! Determine where you want your wet bar to be located. This should be somewhere that there is both water and plumbing. You will also want to integrate your wet bar with the rest of your backyard so that it doesn’t look like an afterthought. Knowing where you are going to put your wet bar will also help you to know what, if any, limitations you will have.

Now that summertime is here, it is time to learn how to build an outdoor wet bar. After all, this is the perfect way in which to keep your activities both fun and exciting. However, before you can enjoy some great entertainment, there are some things that you will need to do in order to create a wet bar.

To build an outdoor wet bar, you are going to need the following items:

  • A bar top
  • A sink
  • Some glasses
  • A blender
  • Liquor such as vodka, gin, rum and tequila
  • Mixers such as soda and juices
  • Beer
  • Salt
  • Garnishes such as lemons, limes, oranges and little umbrellas
  • A bar kit that contains pourer, measurers, martini shakers and a muddler
  • A good recipe book to help you make different types of drinks
  • A mini refrigerator for storing soda, juice, ice and beer

After you have gathered together all of the supplies that you will need for building your outdoor wet bar, it is time to get started! Determine where you want your wet bar to be located. This should be somewhere that there is both water and plumbing. You will also want to integrate your wet bar with the rest of your backyard so that it doesn’t look like an afterthought. Knowing where you are going to put your wet bar will also help you to know what, if any, limitations you will have.

Create a gathering or entrance point for your guests at your wet bar. This area, which is otherwise known as the outside of your wet bar, should have stools and a small table with an umbrella on it where guests can sit and lounge, without being in the sun. The accessories that you choose to place in your wet bar will need to accommodate the type of social setting that you are trying to create while also matching the other décor that you already have. You may also wish to string some lights up around the wet bar so that it is highlighted at night and you can have either music playing or a television available for sporting events.

Once you have created an area for your outdoor wet bar you will want to plug in your refrigerator somewhere that is easily accessible and that it will not be near the water. The same should also be done with your blender. Place all of your liquor and mixes within easy reach of both your refrigerator and your blender.

With your wet bar in place, it is time to start looking for cocktail recipes. Decide whether you want to use fresh ingredients or pre-made mixes for things like margaritas, daiquiris and pina coladas that you will be serving at your wet bar. You will find that the pre-made mixes are easier and will take less time if you are an inexperienced bartender. But most of all, relax and enjoy your new wet bar.
