Haunted Places to Visit in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania is a lovely state, with beautiful scenery. It is also the home to some pretty scary places. If you love a good haunting then you will want to visit these scary places…..

The town of Gettysburg is in southern Pennsylvania, because of the battle of Gettysburg, the town shows tours and explanations of what happened at Gettysburg.Where the war was so close to the town, many house were used as make shift hospitals, to nurse the sick, many solders died And through the years many hunting’s have been reported all over Gettysburg.The smells outside were so disturbing, that the towns people used a combination of peppermint and vanilla on their napkins, to hold over the nose, and try and ignore the stench.Now when walking downtown, there have been reports of the scent of vanilla and peppermint.

The Farnsworth House-

This is still a running bed and breakfast, It still has original rafters, walls and flooring. And there are over 100 bullet holes in the walls from the battle of Gettysburg. This house was used in the war for solders to hide in the attic and shoot at the solders on Cemetery Hill. After the battle was over the house became a Federal headquarters. This is one of the most haunted houses in Gettysburg. And the owners boast a theater for ghost stories viewing and tours as well.

Some strange occurrences that happen here are – when all is quiet a harp is heard being played on the top floor, footsteps are heard all through the house, and when you turn around no one is there, While sleeping at the inn, multiple instances of feeling a presence on the edge of the bed.

A woman viewed by many in the house is dressed in period clothes from the 1800’s, she hangs around the shelves, and disappears when you get too close.Make sure you visit this great bed and breakfast and you might just see a soldiers ghost.

The Jenny Wade House

Jennie Wade(Marie Virginia Wade) was the only known civilian killed in 1863. During the battle of Gettysburg.She was stuck by one single stray bullet, that killed her instantly inside of her house. She was 20 years old. The house is now a museum and is open for tours. http://www.jennie-wade-house.com.

Strange happenings around the house- A young woman’s ghost has been scene, and with her comes the aroma of baked bread, and a rose-scented perfume has lingered as well.

The house was open to the children of the orphanage down the street who often came to the house to play.

You can sometimes hear a child’s voice yell “hey”, and they have been know to grab onto a person and walk with them through out the tour.

A male ghost is said to be upstairs, and the faint smell of cigar smoke lingers with him.

Make sure to visit if you are ever in town.

Gettysburg National Military Park -because of all the killings, and suffering that went on here, this is a paranormal hot spot for many sightings of not just solders, because this lands history started before 1863.

Little Round Top- a headless horseman is seen here quite often.

Culp Farm

This house was located directly on the battlefield, fast footsteps can be heard on the second floor pacing back and forth.

Devil’s Den.

They say this place is not only haunted by ghosts of solders, but of Indian warriors too.

Drum rolls, and gun shot sounds are a common sound in this area.

For some reason camera’s used in this area do not function properly.

and sometimes they are knocked to the ground by an unseen force.

A friendly “hippy” soldier has been seen by many people around this area, and had even had conversations and pictures taken with them, but when the pictures are developed there is no one there.

Cemetery Lodge

This building held all the unclaimed property’s of the dead soldiers for many years.

There are reports of footsteps and cries of babies in the building.
