Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds 3D Concert/Movie Review

My daughter is obsessed with Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus. She watches her show on the Disney Channel and has the doll and CD. She tries to sing like her, dress like her, and wants to be a rock star like her. When she heard about her 3D movie, she hounded me about going. I bought tickets the day before at our local movie theater box office; I was nervous that the movie would be sold out like it was in other cities, but it wasn’t. However, I was appalled at the price: $18.00 per ticket. I couldn’t understand why a 3D movie would be so pricey. I had much to learn.

We arrived at the movie theater 45 minutes earlier than when the movie was to begin. I just knew that there would be a long line. I was wrong. We had to wait 15 minutes though before we could be seated. We bought popcorn and a drink while waiting. Once we were in the movie theater, I noticed two girls about the age or 12 or 13 sitting at the top of the seating area. There was also another girl about 7 or 8 years old with her parents. I was very surprised that more people were not seated already. We found our seats and waited while eating our popcorn. More people began to fill into the seating area. There were girls ranging from 5 to 17. Most girls had come with their mothers. There was even a grandfather and grandmother sitting with their granddaughter.

The movie began with previews from an upcoming 3D movie in the summer: Journey to the Center of the Earth. It looked pretty interesting. Then the concert/movie itself began with Miley Cyrus donning a blond wig as Hannah Montana. She sang several of her songs from her album. It showed footage from dress rehearsals and costume changes. Her band, backup singers and dance team were amazing. It takes a lot of practice to do what they do. The costumes that they wore were fabulous. It reminded of the 80’s fashions. My daughter along with other girls in the theater was singing along. The 3D effect gave the impression that you were on stage with Hannah Montana. So far I was impressed. About halfway through the show, she exited the stage to change into Miley Cyrus. The Jonas Brothers filled in the time with a few of their songs. They swooned the crowd with their handsome looks and their awesome singing voices. I almost wished they had stayed.

Then Miley Cyrus arrives. She sings and dances to several songs from her album. Again, it showed backstage footage of dress rehearsals and costume changes. At one point during the concert, Miley sings “I Miss You”, a song that she wrote in memory of her grandfather. Dressed in blue jeans and barefoot, she sits on a barstool strumming her guitar while she is singing. That was my favorite part of the show. There was no glamour, no dancing, just a pure American girl singing from her heart.

Miley Cyrus ends the concert by singing her ever popular song “Best of Both Worlds”. This was an awesome show.

I have to admit that I enjoyed listening to the music and watching the dancers perform very tricky moves. However, I was disappointed that there was not more concert footage. I could have done without the backstage footage. However, it gives insight as to what happens during rehearsals and during the concert. My daughter was happy and continued singing as we walked out of the theater. After we got in the car, she turned to me and said, “That was so fun. Thanks.” She leaned over and kissed me on the cheek. To see her happy and smiling was worth the money that I spent.

Overall, I would recommend this movie/concert to anyone that is unable to attend the actual concert. It’s cheaper and you don’t have to fight crowds for a chance to see Miley/Hannah on the stage. There is no one getting in your way and it feels as if you are really on the stage with her.
