What do you think of when you think of God’s love? Do you think of the things He has done for you personally? Do you think of the miracles performed by His wonderful hand? Do you think of Heavens splendor that He has planned for you? All of the above demonstrate some aspects of God’s love toward mankind. Regardless of what enters your mind about the love of God, the one thing that is for sure is the certainty of it. Even those who don’t believe in God would agree that any man that would or could do the things that have been done by Jesus Christ has to have had an amazing love.
Without a doubt the greatest example of God’s love is explained in the King James Version of the Holy Bible in John 3:16 where it states, “For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.”Can you imagine giving up your only child, or even one of many children for that matter, to die for another person? Could you imagine sacrificing your child for a murderer, a drunkard, a child abuser, or any other form of evil doer? Could you imagine watching as your child was spat upon, beaten, cursed, and mocked? Watching as your child is beaten beyond the point of recognition? Of course you would never allow this to happen. Yet God loved mankind so much that He sent his very own son to die for the sins of the entire world. Jesus Christ came to earth to endure all of these things willingly. Not only did He make the greatest sacrifice ever documented in history but he also asked for nothing in return. The King James Bible also states in John 15:13 “Greater love hath no man than this, that a Man lay down His life for His friends.”(KJV) According to this portion of Scripture there is no greater love than the love Jesus demonstrated on the cross that he died upon.
Not only was there a sacrifice made but there was also a gift offered to all mankind. In God’s great love, He has prepared you a place to live with Him in Heaven. You will be given a mansion. You will walk the streets made of the purest gold. Most importantly, you will have eternity to spend with the One who loved more than any other has ever even thought of loving.
While you may never understand completely the awesomeness of God’s love, you cannot deny its existence. It is an ever present and powerful love that He has never demanded anything for. All who share in this love should give Him praise, glory, and honor for all the love He has shown to mankind.
