Four Things You Must Do in Philadelphia

If you’re thinking of visiting the City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia, you fall into either one of two categories. One: You’ve never been to Philadelphia before and you don’t have a clue what to do when you get there. Two: You’ve been to Philadelphia a few times, but you’re not quite sure if you’ve experienced the best of Philly. Well, no matter what category you fall into, below you will find four things you must do in Philadelphia.

Shop on Chestnut Street

Chestnut Street is located in Center City, Philadelphia in the close proximity of Market and Arch streets. It’s a long street that is similar to New York City’s Canal Street. On Chestnut street, you will find every piece of merchandise you can imagine, from jewelry to fur boots. Also, you’ll be able to eat all kinds of foods.

Chestnut Street in Center City Philadelphia has a kind of uniqueness to it. Some of the stores are just uncanny. For instance, there’s a large store that sells only hair ornaments and a store that makes it’s own all natural make up. Chestnut Street in Center City, Philadelphia goes on for miles and miles. And the street is decorated with large billboards and graphics that are reminiscent of New York City’s Broadway.

Eat a Philadelphia pretzel

Philadelphia pretzels are soft, tender, and they have just the right amount of salt on them. Bakeries in Philadelphia churn these pretzels out by the millions daily. You can find Philadelphia Pretzels being sold from small carts in Center City that you’ll run into on the sidewalks. These carts usually carry all kinds of food from hotdogs to bagels. If you purchase a Philadelphia pretzel from one of these carts, expect to pay about forty-five to fifty cents. You can also catch specials of three pretzels for a dollar.

But here’s a hint: Even though Philadelphia pretzels can be purchased from the small food carts I mentioned, it’s best to buy Philadelphia pretzels from actual pretzel bakeries. You can find one of these on Chestnut Street and there are also other ones around the city of Philadelphia. It’s best to buy the pretzels from these places because Philadelphia pretzels taste best when they’re warm and fresh from the oven.

See the Liberty Bell

Of course you can’t miss the history-making bell with the large crack up the side. The Liberty Bell is one of Philadelphia’s historic landmarks. And if you by chance forget to visit the bell, you’ll really be missing out on history.

Visit South Street

Surprised I didn’t mention the Philadelphia cheese steak? Well, the best place to buy a Philadelphia cheese steak is on South Street. Located a few blocks up from Market Street in Center City, Philadelphia, South Street is known for its artsy feel. Home of a Virgin Records store, a huge poster shop, antique book stores, and all other kinds of artsy venues, South Street is a tourist’s dream. And for a good cheese steak you can visit Jim’s steaks, a place that usually has people lined up around the corner or other popular steak venues such as Pat’s or Geno’s. Even if you’re not an artsy person, you simply cannot say you went to Philadelphia without visiting South Street. There’s something for everyone there.
