Forbes has compiled a list of the Top 20 Richest Women in Entertainment. . These are stars in television, movies and music who have amassed fortunes with their entertainment careers. For purposes of this list, Forbes only compared active mega stars, and did not include stars who are not actively performing anymore. Following is the list of the Top 20 Richest Women in Entertainment, per Forbes (forbes.com).

1. Oprah Winfrey. Number one on the list is Oprah Winfrey, 52. Her net worth is estimated at $1,500 million. Oprah Winfrey is single and has no children. Ms Winfrey was raised poor, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and rural Mississippi. today she is the richest woman in entertainment, as well as the only black female billionaire. In the late 1980’s, after her successful syndicated talk show debuted, she earned $2 million Her earnings today are estimated at $225 million per year from her own TV show and other TV shows produced by Harpo Productions (Oprah’s production company). Shows produced by Harpo Production include Dr. Phil McGraw and Rachael Ray.

2. J.K. Rowling. Number two is J.K. Rowling, Age 40. Her net worth is estimated to be $1.000 million. She is married and has three children. She is the author and the mega successful series, Harry Potter. At one time she was a single mom on welfare. Now she earns a cut of royalties on the popular Harry Potter movies and products.

3. Martha Stewart. Martha Stewart is number 3 on the list. Martha Stewart is 64, single and has one child. The majority of her net worth is in shares of her publicly traded company, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia.
