Equate Nourishing Nail Polish Remover

Equate Nourishing Nail Polish Remover is the Walmart equivalent of Cutex nail polish. It comes in a 10 fl. oz bottle with a blue cap. The nail polish itself is blue too. I’m not sure why it is blue, but I also noticed some pink and purple ones too.

Nourishing nail polish remover claims to help soften cuticles and add strength and resiliency for more beautiful nails. This product is for natural nails and is made with Vitamin E. It also contains Bitrex® which is a chemical added to household products to make them taste bitter so that they won’t be accidentaly swallowed. I can see how this is important because nail polish remover is harmful if ingested.

I never really gave a second thought to nail polish removers because I thought they were all pretty much the same. But a few months ago I realized I had been using a nail polish remover for acrylic nails. The only problem was I don’t have acrylic nails.

I don’t know what the difference is between a formula for acrylic nails and one for natural nails, but I had noticed that a few of my fingernails and a couple of my toenails were starting to look yellow. I’m not exactly certain if it was caused by using that product or not, but I definitely wanted to get something this time that was made for natural nails.

Nail polish removers may not all be formulated the same, but they all do smell the same. I guess there’s no way around the strong odor. Also, the vapors can be hazardous, but I’m not exposed to it for very long and I try not to breathe it in too much. I pour it on a cotton ball to remove my nail polish. It works great and removes it easily.

After using this nail polish remover a few weeks, as my nails began to grow out, I could see white nails beginning to grow behind the yellow part. Now that I’ve been using it a few months, the yellow is gone. My nails look back to normal now. Actually, they look better than they ever have. I wasn’t sure if this would help them not to look yellow anymore or not, but it seems to have worked!

I’ve never done much with my cuticles, but I have noticed fewer hangnails since I started using this nail polish remover. It is doing an amazingly good job of keeping my cuticles moisturized. I have never used Cutex so I can’t say if the Equate brand is truly comparable, but I am surprised at how well this works for a store brand. This is a little cheaper and does a good job. I’m happy with the results of using this nail polish remover.
